Phenix models yak 54 .46 build
I just purchased a Yak54 from phenix models and seeing that there were no build threads I decided to start one of my own. Im going to use a Magnum .70 XLS four stroker for power and a Futaba T6EX fasst radio for guidance. This airplane is estimated to arrive in about 2-3 days and I cant wait . Im going to use a hobbico hydrimax 2k MAh. nickel metal hydride battery and Futaba S3004's all around exept for the rudder, that will be guided by a hobbico hi-tork digital servo which Irecently purchased. Hopefully Ican get some pics of it when my main compuer is fixed tomorrow.

Here are some pics of what came in the box, it arrived yasterday night (one full day before the minimum arrival date!!) From looking at the overall construction I can tell this will be a great flying aircraft!

Today, we've been trimming my old engine mount from my pheonix models funstar ( R.I.P. ) to make it fit into this airplane , and with only minimal cutting, it fit like it was meant to be there in the first place. we are going to start on assembling the wings tomorrow and I'll post more pictures of that soon.

Sorry for the HUGE delay, my dad had to go to Europe for a month but now that he's back the build can resume. I have test fitted the wings and L/G to the fuselage and the results were not so stellar. One reason I say this is that the right wing bolt thread in the front is plugged up with carbon fiber for no apparent reason and in the left wing the same thread just popped out when I tried to screw in the bolt. Also I noticed that the landing gear legs had a small problem as the outer most holes were pre drilled to far inward causing the screws and deadbolts to line up improperly. I will upload pictures soon and more work will continue!

Just got some new helicoils from Olander Company in san jose and now my next step is to fix the wing threads, I'm still not sure weather to try dpring helicoils ot thread helicoils, I'll post pics of both and YOU (RCU ppl) can help me decide.
*note in the picture the normal helicoil is on the right and the thread in heli coil is on the left*
