RE: Comp Arf 2.3M Maiden today...WOW.. Awesome
House of Kolor colors and Sherwin Williams clear. The plane is right at the rearward most recommended CG 115 mm from tip. I have a 2000ma NiMe for rx and a 1650 for ign. mounted on the sides of the firewall. I also have a carbon fiber horz. stab tube. I did paint this plane and was careful not to put to much on however I sanded about 3/4lb of paint off and added about 1.5 lbs not to bad. The plane comes in at about 21.7 lbs. It flies as light as my 25.5 lb 2.6. I was worried about the power and weight also. After flying it I am glad I choose the set up I did.

Dick,
No holes barred here. 20lbs 1 oz. gotta remember the 50 is lighter then the 80 and the 50's combined CG, with long pipe - is much further back then with the 80. I have seen the 80 pull a 26# plane like it was ballistic. That's why I think it's too big for the 2.3 - but WTH? Whatever works for you I always say
Jeff,
I put LI-Po's in mine too, so that doesn't help the situation at all, they are so light they do little to balance the plane. Kind of rediculious since I had to add it with lead, but I only have to charge it once a month this way to look at the brighter side LOLOL.
Common man - gimme the secret of man's red fire!! Whaddya do?

Sounds like good weights on both -
So - real world - on empty tanks -- about a lb difference.
fill the tank on the 50 powered one --it weighs as much as the 80 powered one with the tank about emptied--
The other engine option which should work is a good 60 -
In the ZDZ-the 60 weighs exactly 4 lbs bare so shave a 1/4-1/2 lb from the 80 - OR add aprox1/2-compared to the 50 w/pipe
The props used on the various sizes are a fair bit different in weight also.
looks like lotsa options. all good.
A couple of other weight savers - toss all the fancy batteries and use smaller mh high discharge capability NiMH or Nicads.
The KANN cells really pack a wallop and the only negative point would be need for recharging --but they really charge fast also.
I mount my batteries so that I can rip em and replace em in a couple of minutes.
they recharge at 1C with no problems.

Rick P, The water marks you are referring to I think are my cloud formations? I made them with some homemade stencils and free hand airbrushing. The lightning is all free hand airbrush. The ZDZ really pulls the plane along great not crazy power but unlimited vertical for sure rolling and snapping as far as you can see it straight up. Although it slows to a walk on landing. I think after I move the CG up 5 to 10mm. It will land very easily. It does not fly heavy at all. I do still have some set up to do. I will let you know how it is after I get a little more flight time.

I had a chance to be up close and personal with yzman's "Work of Art" and it is awesome. Here is a closeup of the detail in the flames.

As far a weight on my scale the zdz with muffler and ignition no batt, weight was right at 5lbs. Thanks Lew hope to talk to you soon. I ordered a 3.0 also comp-arf. The big fly so well.
