Yea finding a body-man and painter for auto is tough. One place you might try is car shows. Some of those paint jobs are several grand, but in the show car crowd, there is always someone who knows a good painter/bodyman. However, finding one who is trustworthy AND fair prices is a little tougher....

HEHE I feel that!!

The auto industry somehow seems to end up a "who you know" industry rtather than "how much you got?".

I love your cars todd!! Nice collection you got there!!

We could all use a few tips on painting if you ever get the time! My Mugen works is still unpainted.. still thinking hehe

Well there is one tip that I could share, that I haven't seen many people being aware of...After you mask the windows, and any other area you don't want painted, or to remain clear like windows, Get yourself some scotch brite (red or Grey works fine) and scratch the plastic on the inside of the body really good. It does look hazy at first, but after you paint it, NONE of the scratches will show through. If you have ever impacted something and the paint popped off the inside of the body, its because you didn't scratch it. The paint needs something to "bite" into so it sticks. I learned this in the auto body paint business, where we "color sand" clear coats all the time with even 600-1500 grit, to knock off runs and little imperfections! People freak out all the time thinking "why are you scratching that perfect paint?" but it all buffs right out, and looks flatter and more perfect,- if you do it right. Hope that makes sense.

Todd,

I know the Cat is a 1/5 scale, but where did that body come from. It's awsome! Never been much into 1/5, but that makes me just wanna run out and get one.

Yea, it actually was the body and wheels I ordered the Competition FG with, it really struck me as cool too, had to have it. The body is made by FG I do believe. I have since put the Mclearen body and BBS wheels on it, and wont put the truck back on now probably. The Mclearen is just so nice to sit and look at....and RUN TOO! Thanks for the compliments...
