Default Cannister Vents

FC26,

Here's a few shots of my cannister vents as requested.

1. Corel Draw Template in place
2. Rough cut outs
3. Dremelled to shape
4. Fuselage inside

I shall be liinng the vents with a thin wire mesh purely for aesthetics.

I'm not sure whether to try and cut some more vents further forward but I have concerns as that'll mean cutting holes near the u/c mounts etc. Anyone got any thoughts on more vents?

Mark

I would be careful with the Canisters in this Plane. I know of 1 which was destroyed due to spar failure from the heat of the cans on the spars. So shielding the spars and having plenty of cooling is a must.

Steve,

Sounds nasty!

I wasn't going to risk that possibility so I have gone a bit overbaord and boxed my spars in with 1/8" light ply - worth the 3oz I think

I put a heat sheild round my spar, and I also recommend you put one on the underside of the tank if its over the canisters. Mine shrunk to about 3oz in capacity due to the heat.

You'll be suprised at the amount the canisters give off.

I'll post some pictures of my install later.

3DStein,

Thanks for the heads up about the tanks - fortunately my install means the tanks sit on a lite ply plate like so...

Should be OK??
