Maiden Gloster Meteor mk4 1:5 scale

I don’t want to teach you to suck eggs with Meteor variants but Jim’s plan isn’t a T7 as it has the incorrect tail.
Jim was actually trying to model a T7.5 which is a modified F8 and used by Martin Baker here in the UK still as the ejector seat test bed. Sometimes called a T7F8.

I understand the two MB aircraft are T 7s ( space in back seat area for test seat) with F 8 rear fuselages with “ straight ” edged fins/ rudders !
MB Ejectee 440, not from a Meteor !

With a T7 front end and an F8 rear.
The point was more that the plan was actually closer to a F8 than a T7 due to the fin and an easier modification than from a straight T7.
Sad to see Ejectee 440 not from a Meatbox :-(
I believe their fatigue index is getting pretty close.
Also it’s a shame the T7 went to the USA and the NF11 got grounded.

Have doen some small things last few days.
Both engines have run.
Installed JetCat telemetry modules:
Cats are inspecting the model:
And I have installed a system so I can see the fuel quantity also when the fuselage is on the wing:
Did also a double inspection on all deflections and the Meteor is now ready for the re-maiden.

It has flown, and crashed......................
To much throw on the elevator caused a crash during full flaps landing.
The biggest cause was myself that I let it happen because if I went around and used start flaps all would be okay.
But hey, it is already on the building table again and I have plenty ideas for the 2nd fuse and wing which I also have to make the model better.
First I will let this one fly again.
Will not be ready before end of the month but somewhere mid may will be the goal.
See here the video, great flyer but after the touch and go I f*cked up.

The previous owner had installed a gyro only on the rudder. He said that the tail wiggled a bit.
Will remove it to find out if this is the case or not.
Dry weight 23kg, fully fueled (5ltr) 27kg.

Sorry to see the Meteor get damaged at the end of video but I am glad to hear you are rebuilding it and it’s already on the bench.
It looked really good in the air and the touch and go was really nice.
look forward to your progress reports

Yep, part of the hobby.
The Meteor flew very well and was lovely to see in the air, also the touch and go was one from the books.
Started to glue some stuff together, will post some pictures of the damage and the repair soon.

Nope :-(
After the last 3 flights we had a warm and very dry period overhere. There we fly on a sleeping military base and we had dry code 2 we are not allowed to fly with turbine powered models.
Since last 2 weeks we had some rain and are back to code 1 but now I am on a holiday.
Hopefully the dry code state will be 1 from now so I hope to fly it again over 2 weeks when I am back.
Have done a lot of thinking during my vacation for the 2nd version of the Meteor and am planning to start with that one this winter.

After more then 2 months of dry weather (fase 2 turbines not allowed), rain and vacation finally could fly again with the Meteor.
Made only 2 flights because it was to wind early afternoon.
Only a small video of the first take off.
