RE: All things OS .18
NONE of them will FIT without useing some aftermarket pieces and a bit of fighting, THUS THE REASON OS MADE THE OS MAX 18TM. To fill an AWFUL void in their marketshare with the 18 line of engines..... the engine we are discussing here.. it is made to DROP RIGHT IN to your Maxx with the Stock Maxx parts you already have on your current truck..,the OS MaxTM COMES WITH the header FOR THE TRAXXAS TMaxx. you ll use your pipe, clutch assembly and starter from your current traxxas engine, put them on the OS MaxTM, and drop it in your truck, fire it up. break in per manual, or the Preferred Method of heat cycleing the engine, the method i used and its GREAT~!~ see above post... dont suggest ther over 300 bit personally but hey Sh** happens..motor runs like a raped ape!!!! fast and furious....
Want an OS 18 motor for your Maxx truck, then you go drop between 220 and 250 bux on one at your lhs or fav online store...but you want the OS MAX 18TM. forget the cvr model, there is no need with the tm.
Back to the MAT~
the engine is great, only needed to adjust the tune a tad for the 30 degree differance in temps. was 30s-40s. now it 50s-60s.. soon to be 70s-90s.

RE: All things OS .18
Well I am about to buy OS .18TM #2 . Up until this point my wife and my daughter's maxx's have been ok on the 2.5, but after an hour of tuning on my wife's tonight(and wasting an hour of me driving my truck) The 2.5 is going to that big TRX graveyard in the sky. I think tomorrow I am going to see what my LHS can do on one. I bought the last one there for 200.00 with tax. Lets see what they will do on a second one. I think it should be buy one get one free personly.LOL ...........GW

RE: All things OS .18
hey guys. i am new to this fourm. but i also have a os .18 tm. and i am so glad i installed it. i have almost 2 gallons through mine and it still runs like it did the day i installed it. in my opinion i think the blue thunder 20% is the best fuel for the motor. that is what i broke it in with. the only adjustments i have had to make on my motor is on the high end. maybe not even a 1/8 turn either way. the motor makes monster power, when ever i come out of a turn with it the right front wheel wil be about 1/2 to an inch off the ground. and after this motor spits up i will more then likely go with another os .18. i have no complaints on this motor.

RE: All things OS .18
Love my 18 TZ. The owners manual was very vague on breakin. I just ran it rich for 6 tanks then beat it. It is truly an awsome engine. I run it with Trinity Monster fuel and a p6 (medium) plug.

RE: All things OS .18
The TZ you just bought needs almost on breakin. After I buught mine and my friends saw it was whooping big blocks they went the direct dropin route also.

So what's the consensus view at this point on the new 3.3? Should I rip it out brand new, get rid of it brand new (pulled from a new Revo 3.3 that I'm waiting on the mail man to bring ), and drop in an OS .18 TM - or TZ (which one??).
Or should I just keep the 3.3?

RE: All things OS .18
You done paid for a 3.3 Revo, and waited for it....I'd run it till it needs replacement, or you get out run by a Picco or OS......But I would get a GOOD charger, rip out the Opti unit, and install a failsafe....

Is this charger good enough for small time competition racing? : http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...3&I=LXUF46&P=K
I'm interested in swapping to an OS also because I can shed the starter and use the RD bump box...which OS is the best 0 TM or TZ?
Gracias

Finally opened mine up yesterday after a long breakin. FAST!!!!!!! I ran the crap out of this thing. I checked the temp after beating it a little and it was at 220. So I took it around for a couple hotlaps. I looked at my friend and said "now its goning to be hot" checked the temp, 222 hahahaha lol. Awesome. love it, thanks guy's for posting all the info. If it weren't you I probably would've gotten a 323. Thanks again everyone, crazy Nick

RE: All things OS .18
I put the TM engine in my t-maxx the friday before last..
at this point, I've never seen an engine run better than this one!!! From the first break-in tank through the completion of my first gallon, the engine hasn't caused me a bit of problems!!! I'm totally satisfied with my purchase...
the speed when this thing winds out is insane!!!
oh yeah, tuning couldn't be easier.. I've set it... the temp remains between 225 and 250 with no more than a 1/8th turn of the needle..

Wait, you put that small engine in your Tmaxx? That's COOL as all getout...can I put that in my Savage do you think??? Would it bolt up, would the spur to clutchbell line up right? Would the savage header pipe mate up to it? I'm LOOking for a higher powerband motor to drop in my Savage...maybe the .18 is the ticket?!
I've currently got an OS .30 VG in there....lots of bottom end, but weak top end.

RE: All things OS .18
the 18TM is designed to drop into the traxxas trucks, i think you ll want the TZ version for your Savage... you should be able to spring the header right to is as well as the flywheel forward, but not postive as i dont have or work on Savages. no one around here has one... but its a SG crank so the TZ should work fine.

RE: All things OS .18
This may be one for Kliff or Timmahh, but help from everyone is most welcome!!
I`ve just picked up my second Revo, used, its got an 18tm in it but the needles are all over the shop. Does anyone have a base set up for all the needles as the manual doesn`t cover the HSN. I just want a baseline to work from.
Right now its runs but is bogging down with even moderate throttle. I`m using tornado 25% with the stock air filter and pipe.
