Yo Jett dude
What part of the sentence " A G-26 will not FIT in my plane" don't you understand???
The G-20 FITS perfectly and will even hover it. There other planes that the G-26 won't fit in, that why there is a G-20.
There also lots of planes that will fly with a G-26, but they would be an under powered dog of a plane.
The magic words are, right sized plane, right sized engine.

Do you beleive everything you read on webpages ?? There are enough reports of dead batteries after only a few flights, only a fool woud discount ALL of them as bad batteries.

I SUSPECT that the ignition is drawing more than they are willing to admit. But that is really beside the point.

With those facts, it does not matter what the ignition draws, power is WAY down for the SAME WEIGHT Duhhh...

So why are you talking about the 1.6 amps which is very bad even if its true.

Dick T. For your willingness to beleive a webpage over many user reports, and your ignoring important facts and concentrating on a current draw that is way to high even if it is what is advertised. You are definately a member of club [sm=bananahead.gif]

JettPilot
[/quote]

For someone who is extremely anal about facts your "I SUSPECT..." comment above contains none.

Secondly, first hand reports of battery issues involve nicads and nimh, and not knowing the batteries condition or handling, so I stand by my comment. The only report on Lipo's is on Tony Clark's web site and I am willing to accept that until first hand reports to the contrary become available. He is a reputable dealer in Europe and has a lot to loose if posting bogus information.

1.6 amps at WOT is fact, so what? You either deal with, change it to C&H or don't buy the G-20.

Thrust vs. weight? No argument the G-26 (or G-23) makes more but they don't fit well in .60-.90 airframes.

Lastly, what difference does it make to you if a fellow wants a G-20 including all of it's real or perceived warts?

Stupid? It's my stupid and you can't have any. Neener-neener, and I'm ordering a G-20 from the LHS tomorrow.

Noooooooooo !!! Ohhh my gawd !!! Dont do it !! Dont jump !!! [X(]

You flying a G-20 will do more to prove my point than anything I could say to you. I hope you give an honest report, the good and the bad, on the G-20 here in this thread once you have it installed and flying. ( I will accept your apology also, even though it will be a bit late in comming )

I bought one last week to go in my 60 hellcat but now I don't know.I have more than one airplane so if it's just the charging every 2 or 3 flights I don't mind as long it runs good.

Although this is a fairly new offering, all the initial user reports here indictate that it is a very strong running engine and should power models of that size quite well.

I am running my G20 on a Vector Flight Edge and it pulls that plane with authority. Yes the ignition module is power hungry and I did change it to a C&H only because the the wires got pulled out of the module. The only reason that the G26 is more powerful is because it is a BIGGER engine. I did try the G26 on my plane but it did not fit. I get 3 hours of flight with a 2000 NiMH battery. This engine turns a 16/8 at 9000. I am running 100:1 amzoil with no problems. This engine is perfect for the 60-90 size airplane, and IMO worth the money.

Been running the g20 on funtana 90. Love the engine but have had 2 modules go bad, at 170.00 PRICEY. I ordered a BCMA module from Adam (85.00). Going to try to make it work, if it does it will be a cheaper and better module (lot less batt drain). If not maybe I can use it elsewhere. Would welcome any tips.

Although I have already ordered a CH ignition for G20, I called Zenoah to hear about G200PU(G20ei in the States).
Mr. Kawazoe answered that Zenoah's ignition which comes with G20 is a compromise on igniting performance
and measures against noise. He said that the ignition draws more current than others, but it is much reliable
with less noise although it makes modellers have to charge battery and check voltage more times.
I now know their policy, but I wish their ignitions drew less current, at least 1 hour with a 1500mA battery.

P/S
CH Ignition offered me a choice between two, one is new China made and the other is original US made.
I ordered original one which is repairable but more pricey.

Horison's website says, 42ozs for motor, ignition, and mount. Is it actually lighter than that. Seems like you guys are saying its closer to 30ozs? Are you using nicads or lipos for ignition. I was planning to use a 2-cell 2200 lipo and 5v reg. How is the power compared to like an os 91 fx?

Thanks!

Can anyone tell me the size of the G20's rear mounting plate as I would like to stick one on the front of my GP Big Stick.

3.5 x 2.8
OR 2.75 if you take the plate off and mount the engine with 4mm screws through the firewall from the inside..They won't fit through the front.....

Ralph,

Which ignition replaces the stock one? I would rather have something that doesn't use so much battery.

My G20 sporting one of RCIGN1's ignitions runs 3 hours on a 4.8 volt, 800mah, AA battery. This engine/ignition makes a fine combination.

That's the combo I would like to get. Sent Ralph a PM on the possibility, but no reply as yet.

Reply.....There isn't enough room in the rear case for the ignition and a coil...It could be done with the ignition inside the case and an external coil, or one of the new Chinese ignitions in a separate box...No problem otherwise...Magna has a G20 I converted, ground off all the little extra tapped bosses and used a lighter spool type hub from an old G23...

Ralph,

Have you used any of the Chinese ignitions? Would you be interested in changing my stock Zenoah electronic ignitions to one of those? Does anything else need to be changed?

And that G20 from Ralph is a nice piece of work. If Ralph did not stop with his grinding and polish, the crankcase would almost look like a CNC case...

Now, my carb is having some problem so no chance of taking it up yet.

Ralph, BTW, with that modded hall sensor does it compatible with the chinese RCCDI unit (same as BCMA/Brillelli/Copperhead)?

It is timed the same and is compatible if the wires are connected correctly...
The carb block on a stock G20 is made so that the carb can be rotated 180 degrees...The one on your G20 is not made that way, if you're carb doesn't work try rotating it 180 degrees to line up the pulse hole in the block with the pulse hole in the carb body....
