Default Anyone have any experience with the Redcat Aftershock e sc truck

I saw this nice looking redcat 1/8 scale sc truck on sale for 299.00 shipped it includes the lipos, charger and everything. Looks like a nice vehicle for the bucks. I have heard some bad things about redcat but have no personal experience with them. I saw a redcat 1/8 nitro buggy up close and it at least looked extremely well made.

I am not worried about having parts available from my lhs as i order most of my parts online anyways. I am also considering the buggy or monster truck.

Id like to hear about your experiences with redcat.

Thanks

stay away from redcat unless you like to run your truck for 10 minutes then repair for an hour.
i have the backdraft 3.5 and it broke allot.
it was busted the first 15 minutes of running it, the plastic parts are crap.
for real get something different.
read up on redcat and youll see you want to stay away from them

i like my redcats so much that i became a redcat dealer.
i havent owned a 8E(sadly) but i onwed the backdraft 3.5. the nitro versions and the electric version 1/8's share the same diffs, shock towers, wheel hubs(maybe a few other parts) i was impressed by the durablitlty of the backdraft.
i also love my volcano-tornado and lightning epx pros.

there is a redcat forum on this site. you should look at some of the posts.

i did recently read that after many drag races with a new aftershock 8E, the rear diff failed. seems the diff pinion may need to be shimmed or have lub put in the case(none from the factory)

the ESC in the redcat 8E's is the well-known ezrun brushless system. no worries there. they are very good units for the money.
the included lipos are of decent grade. but pop in a pair of 30c 5000mah lipos and the top speed and runtimes will be even better than stock.

if i had $300 and wanted a 1/8 scale brushless truck, i would buy a redcat 8E hands down(well there arent that many RTR 1/8 brushless trucks for $300 anyway!)

wow, what broke on your backdraf 3.5? i had the stock servo die, and a pull cord break. both of which redcat replaced for free. never had any chassis parts break tho.

my front and rear diffs failed over and over, carrier hubs busted 30 times. spur gear steering linkage servo savers, everything busted over and over.
and i only ran a 1/2 gallon threw it so far and i do not beat on mine. this crap busted under normal easy usage.
i would not take advice from a redcat dealer.
ask your normal r/c lover.
a dealer only promotes there own product.

you have to shim the diffs from the start and strenghten the  hubs.

blew my tranny in mine twice,

it true, i do sell redcats. but i wouldnt tell someone that a truck is good unless i believed that to be the case.
i admitted that another owner of a 8E had the rear diff fail.
i will never say that redcats are bulletproof. but then, no RTR truck is!
i do feel that redcats electrics hold up better than their nitros. that is just my opinion, based on the redcats i own and run.
but you cant take one guys word, not mine and not devils-reject(no offence)
read the posts in the redcat forum. look up user vids on youtube. then make up you mind.
you should also check with multiple redcat dealers before buying. redcat sets the price we can sell their vehicles for, but we can add in free upgrades or parts in many cases. there are a few redcat dealers on here, including myself. check with all of us before you(if) decide to buy and see who has the best deal.
i know 2 of the other long-time redcat dealers are kurt from URC hobby and mike of R U Faster hobbies.
