Are OS parts interchangeable with Magnum XL .52 four stroke parts?
Will OS parts fit the Magnum? I need a crankshaft and header pipe and my LHS does not carry Magnum, but does have OS parts.
They look like the same design and I figure the OS .52 Surpass parts might fit. If anyone knows for sure it will save me some time and money.
Thanks!

I don't know about the 52's but on the 91FS' there is considerable difference when you set them side by side. I know the valve cover will interchange on the 91's and some of the screws and nuts. But the rest is all different.
The OS parts cost double what the Magnum/ASP parts do.
Enjoy,
Jim

Thanks for the info. The LHS had the OS .52 FS in stock and the header pipe fits perfect. The entire design also looks identical to the Magnum except for the carb. I just don't know if the crankshaft is the same as the Magnum since I could not take the crank out of the OS. Anyone have any info on the crankshaft designs?

I would be seriously surprised if the OS and Magnum cranks are 100% identical, which would be required for one to swap in place of the other. Why not just mail order the right crank so you can be sure to repair your engine right the first time with the least amount of $ out lay?

JWN, I can get OS parts at dealer cost at the LHS. Since he does not carry Magnum I would have to order the parts online and pay shipping and when it is all said and done would cost me about $20-$30 more for all the parts. I will be getting the OS crank next week so I will let you know if it works.

The crankshaft for the Magnum .52 FS is $34.95. The exhaust pipe is $10.00. Shipping for the two items is $6.50 from Hobby People.
Per Tower, the crank for the OS .52 is $39.99 and the exhaust pipe is $9.99. These will of course be less since you are going to get it at cost and won't have to pay shipping. But, if the crank doesn't fit, make sure your LHS will let you return it. Otherwise you are back to buying the parts twice.
Good luck!

They fit
Well, I got the new OS parts and they are identical to the Magnum parts, except for the obvious better machining. If you have a Magnum .52 four-stroke you can buy OS .52 replacement parts and they will fit. So to answer my own question, Yes.

Anthony,
That is great news. I'll be the first to admit I was wrong on this one and completely surprised the parts are identical. I'm glad you were able to repair your engine at a cost that worked out well for you!
