Durability in question!
I am about to trade my S-Maxx for a Jato and was wondering how does the durability of the Jato compare to the S-Maxx...I've never broke a part with it yet

RE: Durability in question!
The S-Maxx is a T-Maxx with 4WD removed and reverse removed. Literally the same chassis. T-Maxx and S-Maxx are known for the unreliable platform. The Jato, even though it's a little 3 pound demon, it can take far more beating than any T-Maxx ever will.

I hope you guys are right about the Jato!

RE: Durability in question!
haha yea my redcat broke every half tank,my tmaxx 3.3 is tough as nails, i run it in 20 degree's and nothing breaks.
my jato was the same, i would slam it into a snow bank at full speed and it just bounced off and kept going.
i dunno if i would want to run the tmaxx with no 4x4 or reverse, i love the reverse, and it would be almost un controllable as a 2x4.
im about the lock up the diffs on my tmaxx, once i do that it will be unstoppable

RE: Durability in question!
you will break the jato, guaranteed
especially if you run it on pavement
reason being, it's so fast it's pretty easy to lose control and crash into things. At speeds the jato can get up to, no RC is going to be durable

RE: Durability in question!
all the jato has going for it is speed, and the only reason is two speed and a large motor, never been a fan of that.
i have a old T-Maxx and although its not very fast, its a blast to drive, ive had and have fast stadium trucks, but they slip and spin out eaisly in anything but warm dry pavement, short grass and packed clay, it takes a very light throttle finger.
depending on how nice the s-maxx is you can sell it and get a OFNA 1/8 buggy, which are Very fast and extremly stable at high speeds, not to mention built like tanks.

My Jato has taken tumbles and mailboxes from a jerk of the wheel and just keeps on going. I have an S-Maxx and the fact it's 2x4 doesn't really feel different except for the fact it doesn't really donut very well. Other than that, it feels the same. Jato will be tough to control on the dirt though.

RE: Durability in question!
the best way to keep the 3.3 in one piece. is to put 1 or 2 extra head gaskets on, and NEVER run it at top rpm for more then 3-4 seconds.

Dont do it. If you have the parts to make your Maxx 4WD yet you are looking at a jato roller, it is a mistake from the get-go. Kinda sounds like rollin into a dealership and asking to trade your F150 Raptor for an S10.....

s-maxx and T-maxx are so much more fun, you can go anywhere and do anything with them, they also have great resale value, rollers are scary as YOU CANT SEE THEM GO, and with something that has two speed this raises consern, also the fact that these are fast and overpowered, one bad crash can tweak the chassis or the diff might go with no slipper slippage.
trust me on this, you will not be happy, i cant tell you how many times i passed up a monster truck for a stadium truck, now that i have one im like "why the hell did i keep doing that?" stadium trucks have thier place, but stadium trucks are really only fun on a track.
plus you have a truggy thats already fast.

RE: Durability in question!
Does his truck look like a Jato 3.3 or a Jato 2.5R?
I'm looking at it it doesnt have the blue seal revo driveline nor sway bars nor a 2speed.
