Is this the pro 15? OS makes a drop-in engine that replaces the pro 15, it's the 18 CVR. It has way more power, will make your nitro sport scream. It will use the same clutch assembly/flywheel from your pro 15, but you will have to use its pullstart as the ezstart from the pro 15 won't fit it.

DTX rtr motors are pretty decent for cheap, they are .18 OS motors and should fit, plus they makes HEAPS of low end grunt.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The OS looks good, but I'd kinda like to be able to keep the EZ start if possible.

I can't find any of the DTX engines for sale on Ebay or otherwise. Know of any links?

And how is the Associated .21 engine? Looks like it would drop right in... any power in those?

The OS .21TM uses the same mount as the TRX pro .15/2.5/3.3. BUT I dont know if it would fit the car for one and for two that engine would blow your transmission apart. The transmission isnt really designed to take extreme power from a .21 engine.

I've had a hard time keeping the diff alive in my Rustler with a 3.3 - a big block sounds ludicrous. If you're after a wild little ride, I'd go after a Dynamite .19T. Its a direct replacement for Traxxas 2.5/3.3. The only thing I think you would need is the throttle linkage for the 2.5/3.3 carb to drop that Dynamite engine in. However if you want a more controllable car, Swap the pro .15 for a 2.5r. The dynamite .19T is just as powerful as the 3.3 if not more powerful. A Wheelie bar would be mandatory. (LoL)

The EZ-Start is not needed if you get an OS .18 CV-RX. They start real easily with the recoil starter.

witha pull start or roto start OS youwill have to do sum surgery on the chassis and the front of the transmission case ... go with a traxxas 2.5 it will still have the ez start and more than enough motor. plus its a direct drop in.

The TRX 2.5 seems to not tune well or perform well. Go with an OS engine. You won't be sorry.

i have tuned hundreds of 2.5 motors .... they tune well and hold a tune just fine until they are worn out!

tuning can be a issue for a peep that doesn't have a clue on tuning, that is why i have tuned so many .. study up on tuning and you won't have any prob outta the 2.5

The 2.5 and 3.3 are racing engines. They are not a noob-friendly design, which is odd given Traxxas markets them to absolute noobs. They can be made to behave themselves but you need to be careful, take your time, be patient, and have a rough idea of *** you're doing.

The presence of a pull starter. In OS engine nomenclature, any engine with an "X" appended to it has some sort of recoil starter affixed. One without the X is generally a bump-start engine, which necessitates a starter box. There's a few exceptions to that rule, but generally speaking that's how it's done.

Other than the pull starter, the engines are identical.
