2s vs. 3s on Slash 4x4
I am thinking about getting a lipo or two tomorrow for my Slash 4x4. I am leaning towards 3s butdo Ineed to upgrade anything on it so it can handle the extra power? How much difference in speed is there between 2s and 3s? I know that there are probably a million posts on lipos, but none that I can find seem to answer my questions.

If the gearing or nothing is changed on the vehicle then we have 50% more voltage and the power produced is more than 50% increase since the current goes up as well. The actual speed difference is something less than 50%.
sorry can't help with upgrades.

When you compare 3s to 2s 3s is going to be a lot faster. A VXL esc is borderline on 3s lipo. Meaning that it's very easy to fry your esc. 3s is also pretty crazy and hard to controle. I would go 2s if you want to actually controle your slash and not worry about frying your esc.

Nothing to upgrade, but do this: keep the stock gearing. Traxxas has a larger tooth pinion gear for higher speed, but this puts a lot of load on the speed control and tends to burn it out. Stick with the stock gearing, don't over gear, you'll be fine.

Thanks, I've been into RC for awhile but I have never really thought of going lipo. Will I have to worry at all about frying my esc with a 2s? Also I planned on keeping the stock gearing. I got the larger tooth pinion in the box with the Slash but I never planned on using it.
