WHATS BETTER ABOUT ELECTRIC THAN NITRO
I have t-maxx 3.3 with all bell's and wisles , my tank lasts 20 min. ,hits second pulls whellies, but i see all these e-maxxes doing the same thing with no noise and less $30.00 gallon for fuel...... i love my truck and noise it makes..(but tired of fuel cost..... give me a reason to go electric... and i might!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: WHATS BETTER ABOUT ELECTRIC THAN NITRO
Electric IS faster but nitro is more fun. instead of the cost of fuel you will have the cost of batteries and good ones aren't cheap, plus the cost of a charger. For the amount of money you can put into batteries you can buy alot of fuel! For me brushless is good if I am building something for high speed runs but everything else is nitro.

RE: WHATS BETTER ABOUT ELECTRIC THAN NITRO
Electric is faster, cleaner and quieter. That's it. I prefer electric these days, mainly for the zero maintenance. I arrive at the bash spot, I plug my car up, and I run all day. The nitro guys are still fiddling with their tune by the time I'm switching out my first batteries. Similarly when finished, I just unplug and throw it in my car, no need to worry about leftover fuel, oil in my car, or spillage of chemicals.
However, if you just can't live without the sound and smell, then electric is not for you.

RE: WHATS BETTER ABOUT ELECTRIC THAN NITRO
I never really have to "fiddle" with a tune, on any of my 6-8 nitro engines. And I'm hardly a nitro-head expert..
Now soldering - that is a fiddly headache.. [:'(]
Anyhow, IMO the vast majority of people who talk down nitro are people either without the patience, or without the sense(or both..) to figure it out. RC is a HOBBY, not a toy.. It should require a bit of effort and a learning curve. That's what makes it more rewarding in the end.. That and the fact that nitro is much more like a motor-sport. You think pro drag racers show up and just plug their cars in and off they go, with no mess or stress?
And the sound... For me electric is so incredibly underwhelming - regardless of speed.. It feels like a way overpriced toy, so it's almost embarassing.. With nitro, again, it's a hobby, and the sound just makes it more exhilerating..
But to each their own..
I actually am considering getting some kind of basic 1/10 electric SC for winter bashing maybe.. Cuz yeah, electric is easier in the winter. But still, I'm not gonna spend a lot.. Electric doesn't deliver the thrill for me to warrant big bucks..
And one last point - electric is hardly plug and play either.. You see guys walking into hobby shops all the time, having blown this ESC, that lipo, whatever..

RE: WHATS BETTER ABOUT ELECTRIC THAN NITRO
One of the reasons I run mostly electric is because of the noise of nitro. I have a very fussy neighbor who doesn't mind coming over and *****ing about anything. Personally the sound and smell of nitro doesn't really do anything for me anyway. Gasoline on the other hand... I love driving my friend's 5b.

You also went on to say that electric people are in hobby shops just as often (I don't agree), but if you believe that, then what basis does your statement that 'electric have no patience and are not treating it as a hobby' have... I just don't get your thinking, you are argumentative while trying to say that others are, and you self contradict (nitro is fiddly and needs patience which electric people don't have, then 'soldering is fiddly'...make up your mind...). That we should be ashamed of ourselves running our overpriced toys was just the icing on the cake.
Then to add final insult to injury, you add the disclaimer 'each to their own', when that's clearly not how you feel. What you mean is 'I look down on people who like electric and think they are getting as much from the hobby as I do'.
Perhaps you should consider better what you write on this subject in future, because rather than condescend others (as an 'electric person', albeit after 20 years of nitro) with my response (see above) I feel condescended and insulted by your post.
By the way, I also enjoy soldering.

RE: WHATS BETTER ABOUT ELECTRIC THAN NITRO
I would generally reject HerrSavage's input on the matter. Regardless of his experience with Nitro, he's demonstrated in this thread and many others a complete lack of respect for the hobby in general, and enthusiasts who choose not to run Nitro specifically. Anyone on either side of the Nitro/Electric argument that can only disparage people that don't share their opinion on the matter do not contribute to the discussion, imo.
I would love to run Nitro, but I do not for several reasons that have nothing to do with my patience or skill level.
I work full time, and have two sons who are very active in sports and after school activities. Tack on the other demands of family, work, and "life" it is a rare chance that we get to run out and spend 1/2 day at a track. The nearest "track" is 45 minutes away from us. So our choices most days are: our backyard, the cattle farm behind us, or some local skate parks/MTB trails nearby. All 3 options are not available to us if we run Nitro.
I enjoy the time I spend working on the trucks, as much as I enjoy running them with my boys. I have nothing against Nitro trucks or the people who run them. They just don't fit my current lifestyle and time demands, nothing more. I'm happy that electrics are a viable option.

RE: WHATS BETTER ABOUT ELECTRIC THAN NITRO
I like em both but I agree with LaTuFu... when I had a nitro my neighbors would complain if I had it out in the street and the only track here that you can use with out being a member of the local r/c club is "electric only" because it has homes close by... I lost interest in nitro purely because of a lack of places to drive it and I was not interested in joining the local club because at the time my work hours clashed with when they were racing... don't get me wrong I still miss it but electric keeps me and everybody else happy.

RE: WHATS BETTER ABOUT ELECTRIC THAN NITRO
I personally like them both. I had a revo 3.3 that I sold cause I needed money. Yes it took money for fuel and glow plugs and I had to tune it cause I drove it year round. But I bought my emaxx when I got the time and extra money thinking it would be cheaper and easier. So far it's been neither cheaper or easier cause if you want a fast truck you have to go brushless then you need lipo batteries and chargers. Plus you have to be able to solder which I suck at. But once your in it and all setup its nice to just throw the batteries in the truck and run. But what I miss about nitro was I could run as many tanks as I wanted in one outting. Now I'm limited to how many sets of batteries I have charged and when they go dead I have t wait for them to charge back up. So they are both a blast and personally if you want electric to save money just stay with your nitro truck cause brushless motors and esc's and batteries and etc... Add up quick when you figure it all up.
I think when I get the time and more money I'll be finding another revo 3.3, but I won't get rid of my emaxx either.

Batteries and charger equip are getting cheaper every year. I got 2 LiPo chargers, 1 PSU, and 2 5000 mAh LiPos (all new) for a total of $120. That's 3-4 gallons of Nitro. Another pair of batteries to extend running time is $40-50. If I spend the same time and attention properly caring for the batteries and motors that I would properly caring for a Nitro engine, I would estimate that this LiPo setup will last longer than the equivalent amount of Nitro fuel, all other things being equal. (If I spent $200 on Nitro fuel instead of this setup, Ifeel pretty confident I would need to buy more Nitro fuel before I needed to buy any more LiPos)
Overall, I agree with the earlier post, both setups have their pros and cons. What fits your needs better is the question to ask as you consider purchasing a truck.

RE: WHATS BETTER ABOUT ELECTRIC THAN NITRO
I am in the same boat as LaTuFu and TheKennyKiller. I used to only run nitros' and loved the sounds and smells. But along came a *****y neighbor, who filed a complaint with the city noise department and I got a nice letter stating that if they received another complaint than they would fine me $500. But the interesting thing was I wasn't breaking any laws.. I was running them during the day and never after 8pm. I was always thoughtful of my neighbors because there is nothing worse than one that complains all the time.. So instead of losing $500 to the city I decided to start selling my nitros' and going electric. And then brushless and lipos started hitting the market. So I have gone completely electric except for my Kyosho Nitro Mini Inferno 09 and HPI Nitro Mini RS4. Also when we remolded our garage into a family room for my wife's daycare I lost my work area and the wife didn't like me working on the nitros' in the house. And now that my youngest son is into the RC's electric is just easier to deal with...

Foxy, reread your original post. YOU are the one talking down to nitro fans. ONLY - and ONLY then, do I respond the way I do to all these elo fanboys talking crap about nitro.
I have NEVER busted into an electric forum and tried to convert people to nitro. I am ONLY responding to the presumptuous trash-talking of elo-fanboys.
And in the process, to restore a little bit of balance to the view of things for any newbs passing through. Nitro is not that hard.
I have my preferences, just like everybody else does - and yes, that is OK. My opinions re electric only come out when people have written in some thread some presumptuous nonsense about electric being "the future" or some other such nonsense. If some elo fanboy can come along and say "nitro sucks, my hands get dirty", then I have every right to voice my honest opinion that electric is like watching an action movie on mute.

That's it? Because they don't belch noxious fumes and sound like a weed eater? That's your basis for trashing electrics?
I love the power and feel of a V8 engine in a 1:1 car as much as anyone, but if Toyota ever makes a 400HP Prius I'm pretty sure I'd be interested in giving it a try, too. I'm not going to turn my nose up to it just because it doesn't punch a hole in the ozone.

I run both, honestly there a days and times where nitro is not feasible. Other days electric is just boring, and thats when it is time to pull out an electric. To me neither are superior. Just different. I don't car about how fast it goes, I just like to bash. Sometimes I want a loud drive, and other times a quiet one. Whoever said they got a psu, charger, batteries, etc for $120 please explain. It costs me $125 for two 5000mah 3s lipos, but I don't buy chinese much.

As far as explaining, its Hobbypartz. Gens Ace batteries are hard to beat for the pricing and durability. ROAR approved, and Ihave yet to find a forum with any consistently negative feedback about their quality.
I wholeheartedly agree with you, I don't think one is superior to the other. Each has their benefits. As stated many times over in this thread, its what benefits fit the individual the best.
