Default Question of co$t ( GP Wagstaff)

Hi all first time here and glad to have found this place! Excellent site!
I am just getting back into RC from a 8 year break.. I still have my Extra 300 w a 70 OS up front along w a Decathalon 40 ARF.

I hope to be back up to flying shape soon!

My question is in regards to the new Great Planes Patty Wagstaff Extra 300... (God what a sweet plane!) I saw one at a field I'm looking at joining before I even knew anything about it.

Could someone give me a rough Idea where one would be money wise to get this bird in the air?
I overheard guys talking about the one at the field...They were talking 3 Grand?!
I don't expect exact numbers but a rough Idea would be greatly appreciated!

Man I hope its not THAT much!

Thanks again!

Default Question of co$t ( GP Wagstaff)

I can tell you about my 1/4 scale Suhkio ARF. Should be about the same. $1200. Plane $425. Engine $225. muffler $50. spinner $50
servos $80.each times 5= $400 props $30. extensions and ect.
$70. OOPS I guess it's more than I thought. The radio in mine I won at a Fly-In. But figure a decent computer radio at $300.
I guess that's more like $1600.= or-.
Hope this helps David

Use a 50 sized gas engine on it and you will love it.

If you do a search here on RCU, you will find out everything you ever wanted to know about it, and much you didn't want to know.

It's a great flying plane, I have a BME 50 on mine.

$1200 is a good number for mine also. If you already have the right radio.

I can't remember for sure, but I will have to go along with the $1200 price range also.

One more thing. The price of the plane changes dramatically, depending upon where it is mentioned.

TO A SPECTATOR:..... $3000.00
AT THE FIELD:.............$2500.00
TO ANOTHER OWNER:..$1200.00
TO THE WIFE...............$390.00

Default Question of co$t ( GP Wagstaff)

Man That 1200# sounds good to me!! Although I suppose my ole'
PCI Futaba 4 channel just wont cut it huh..?

I a newb all over again, so forgive the obvious questions... Exactly why do a need a somewhat sophisticated radio ?

Thanks,

EDIT-jemo LOL yes the wife will see a slighty different version of the bill!

Default Question of co$t ( GP Wagstaff)

#1 touchy control surfaces, expo and dual rates really help
#2 spoileron-flaperon capability to help with harriers-3D work (channel1 &channel6)
#3 split elevators can be programmed in without using clunky servo reversers channel 2 & 8
#4 flipping all those switches and buttons makes it look like you know what your doing wether you do or not

Smallfly nailed it. You could get by without the # 2-3&4, but expo and dual rates are a must. With large control surfaces expo is your best friend. I run as much as 70% on high rate elevator.

P.S. don't tell my wife it's $390. She thinks it's $250.
