Parts is parts

Parts is parts
I see all kinds of parts offered for sale. Mechanical parts, electrical parts, wheels, tires, etc. etc.
You rarely see any type of adequate description. Usually only the most basic specs, if that.
Many parts will fit a variety of similar units. I don't expect the sellers to research this.
A good description would certainly help.
Catalogs, ebay, online hobby shops all do this. It drives you to the local hobby shop.
You can then check it out yourself before buying. It is good to patronize the local shop,
but since inventory is expensive they will only have a limited selection.
Interesting that the few listings with good specs tend to be Chinese or English[UK].
Hints for vendors: Take pictures.
Place a ruler next to the item. Show both sides or top and bottom.
Include part numbers and/or source. If known indicate the material in the part [plastic, metal, etc]
Hint for buyers: Purchase from the vendors that have good descriptions.

I never had a problem with buying the right parts. You break a part, whip out the manual, and match up the item part number...order same part number. Simple, yet effective.
Possibly the situation, the OP is referring to, is chop shops, or overseas aftermarket parts?
I never buy anything that doesn't have a picture unless there is a part number.
Do your homework; download manuals, and be a well informed consumer ...asking questions when in doubt.
If you're custom building something, then yeah, not having measurements sucks.

I've had this problem trying to buy aftermarket parts. It's like "come on, show the back of thing!". So often when looking for more rare aftermarket parts they only post one picture and it doesn't show half of it. This drives me to post pics from multiple angles of any part/car/truck/etc on listings or here on the forums.

Yea I hit that issue many times
One reason I miss my LHS where I was able to hold up parts to what I needed to fit, and see if they would work.
Used to do it ALL the time with bodies as most will fit more then the model they say on the pack
