i need help finding out what this tool is called. what it does is stop the piston from moving. you take out he glow plug and you insert it through there and it helps you put on the fly wheel n pilot shaft with out the crankshaft moving. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXPF86&P=7 this is the closest thing that i found to it. ofna calls it a pistion stop but isnt there another brand that makes one of these. trinity maybe

Yes there are other companies that make them. I googled and found quite a few. But I'm merely curious, why not just buy that one?

Virtually all rc engines utilize the same sized glow plug therefore the Ofna tool will work in virtually every rc engine. If for some strange, unforeseen reason, the Ofna tool would be too long for your application…………………..cut it off.

I wouldnt really be too comfy using one on my engine. MY guess is that your prolly doing some clutch/flywheel work?

They have those flywheel wrenches that work pretty well to screw that check nut into place.

Or you could just rough it out. I have a problem with something pointy(the only one I found) making a mark on my piston

I have found one that has a hard plastic tip to keep from damaging the piston but, piston lockers are for "light work" and not recommended for flywheel removal and reinstallations. The sheer force used to tighten a flywheel can bend and/or damage the tiny crank pin when using a piston stop.

Yeah well I ain't willing to take that chance. I like the flywheel wrenches.

yea once i tried putting an allen wrench in the exhaust port [:@] what a dumb ass. lol. but it only make a lil dent . then i never did it again

Have never had this go wrong..... but I always stuff a red shop
rag into the intake port to lock the crank. The advantage is it
will not scratch or dent anything and it is also very close proximity
to the nut. Works for me.

The times I've had to do it, I put a rag around the flywheel (a couple of layers) and then I used a pair of vice grips around that. The vice grips that I have have a curved jaw and the edge of the flywheel sits in there nicely. I've never hurt any of my flywheels doing that. Just another way to do it.

i also grip the flywheel.i would never jam the piston, or any moving part for that matter.
