its the h9 33% cap, and i was wondering what engine would be a great light/lots of power/reliable combo. it recommends the zenoah, so would that engine be fine? or what would be better?

In my opinion there are only (2) options. If money was no object then I would probably go with the DA-100, however, I have the same plane and money was an object so I went with the best my money could buy - ZDZ80 Single - and it is awesome. Mine swings a 26x10 Menz S at 6200 and the plane weighs 24 lbs. that means power, and plenty of it, to spare. I'm hoping some day to be able to reach the capabilities that this plane has but for now I'm having a ball learning. Can't say enough good thinks about this combo. Good Luck

Many use aluminum stand-offs, I cut the firewall off and extended it the lenght I needed. You'll get opinions both ways.

I normally build a box to the size I need to make the engine spinner spaceing match the cowl and then attach it to their firewall via epoxy and sheet rock screws or bolts. Make sure that it will not seperate from their firewall!!!!! If their firewall is epoxy coated be sure to remove the epoxy so that the glue will have something to hold on to. I normally use the bolt holes that they have drilled out, and back them up with flat and lock washers.

The ZDZ 80 works pretty good on a 33% plane. If you are really into aerobatics, you'll want a 100cc engine. The DA is probably the #1 choice right now, but if the new BME102 EXTREME lives up to the hype that it is already getting, it will be a killer and EXTREMEly light (less than 4 pounds.) 3W has a good 100 class engine.

Taurus is working on a 107 and I think it too is going to be pretty awesome. One of the best things about TAURUS is the customer service. I took a good long look at the TAURUS line of engines while I was at TOLEDO and I was so impressed I bought one. Like I was saying though, If it lives up to it, I will be putting the BME102 EXTREME on my AERO-WORKS 33% EDGE 540T.

Default new engine

I just got the new 3w100 for the cap232. I flew aprox 20 flights with a 3w 75 single which hovered at a little under 1/2 throttle with a 26x11 prop. It was fun but didn't accelerate out of hover the way I wanted. I ck'd into a da100 but they aren't available till late july. I ck'd with Bobby at Cactus and ordered one of the NEW 3w 100's. It weighs the same or a little less than the da and was $50 less. I put it my digital scale and it came in at 92.0 oz or 5lbs 12oz. I can't wait to get it flying, hopefully by the weekend.

Default Nice installation

Great installation scoplin771. That looks better than that outside of my planes look.

Since you didn't mention it, I noticed that you're using Roger Forgues' custom engine standoffs. Roger will make you up a set to your measurements for $40 plus shipping. I just got a set and they're great. His Web site address is: http://www.aerografixs.com

I highly recommend gong this route. Light, strong, and easy to install. They're worth every penny of the cost.

Default Standoffs

Chix,

All engines are not the same length and they have to be adjusted so the prop clears the cowl correctly(You probably knew this, but I'm just making sure I state everything clearly). Giant Scale manufacturer's make an engine box to attach then engine to in a general location(in the case of the H9 1/3 scale planes, they position it to fit a GT-80 without adjustment). Your choices are to either rebuild the box to move the firewall to the correct location for your engine, add onto the box with a wood structure, or spacers, or add something like the aluminum standoffs. It's up to you how you do it, but you typically will have to do something. I personally like the aluminum standoffs.

Buy a ZDZ 80 and you will have all the things you ask for....Not the twin, the single.......Gobs of power and very, very LIGHT.
I plan to sell my 3W for my Carden Cap and buy one of these.
