Amps and Mah's
How large is a amp? I want to get a Associated Reedy Clip On Heatsink w/Cooling Fan and it says it draws 1/3 of a Amp. Is this alot of a Amp? How will this Amp drawing affect my runtime?
Thanks, Shredder111[>:]

RE: Amps and Mah's
A battery rated at 3300 MAH means that the fully charged battery can provide 3.3 amps of power for 1 hour before it is fully discharged. This also means that it can run a 1/3 amp fan for roughly 10 hours.
In a typical r/c car application, you won't get more than 10 minutes of run-time (usually much less). The power used by the fan would be roughly 1/60 that of your car/truck or 1.7% reduction in run-time (equating to approximately 10 seconds).
However, the purpose of the fan is to cool the electric motor and increase it's operating efficiency which will increase run-time.
Chances are that adding a 1/3 amp cooling fan blowing on the endbell of your electric motor will increase run-time by a small amount while increasing brush, comm, and magnet life.
