I recon that HPI are developing a new truck as we speak.. Look at the facts... HPI are one of the biggest manufacturors in RC. MT is the fastest growing Racing Class. yet HPI do not have a competitive truck. That must be really galling them ATM- I am pretty positive that by Q1/Q2 next year we will be hearing about the "Savage Racer" - can you really see HPI letting all the other maunfacturorers steal their new MT ball?

at a guess it will be lower, longer, lighter - have a a MUCH better engine and more tunable suspension.......

I agree w/ ahab. They just put out the larger engine, I think they will come out w/ a racer to keep up w/ the other Co. And they will keep the savage as is and up grade it slowly through the years. my humble opinion.

I dont know what HPI R+D are up to, but I would say that if they can make the Savage competitive then they will release a savage based truck. But TVP's cause a high COG so I could see them making a sort of MT2 based TRUGGY sort of thing as traditional flat pan chassis seem to offer much lower COG.
However as the TVP Savage design is a bit if a trademark now I can see that they will stick to it if they can... If the HPI racer isnt TVP it is unlikely that TVP will ever be a competitive race design.

who knows the next HPI MT might even be as far out of left field as the REVO is with its push rod suspension set up....
But whatever happens I cant believe that HPI will want to loose the market share it has with the Savvy.

I would expect a racing MT from HPI to be a truggy style like Hot Bodies new unlimited racer....The more racing trucks you see coming out the more they look like 1/8th buggies with big tires strapped on and longer suspension arms. It seems like there are two very different classes of MT's on the market...The basher/jumper and the racer. The REVO is very low slung and with the body on looks a lot like a GS Storm unlimited truck. Big wheels that almost go above the top of the fenders and low to the ground. That's great for racing but sucks for jumping and general bashing where a high ground clearance and ability to soak up falls from heights is important. I found this with my Mammoth. It's an awesome truck and fun to drive because it's so well planted and impossible to traction roll but it just is't fun to jump. I ended up getting a Savage SS to build because I missed the way my old (original release) Savage 21 jumped. Hopefully HPI will develop a lightweight, low slung, bulletproof racer for the racing crowd and continue to improve the Savage for a few more years. Who really cares how old it is as long as it's still good. And it sure seems like the old Savage is doing better for it's owners than some of the new super trucks on the market. There's lots of LST paperweights out there due to poor parts quality.............How long did Associated keep the TC3 unchanged? Quite a few years and it's still winning with the TC4 on the horizon.....

Thats exactly what im thinking; I think Hpi will make a new truck as yall said they probably could make a hpi savage racer or whatever but we'll be soon to find out I just hope hpi doesn't discontinue the savage like they did to the savage 21.

I personally think the savy is a race worthy truck with a little help from the aftermarket industry. grind down the c-hubs to turn better add some bearings, get rid of the long shocks and you have a racer that can win. oh yeah bullet proof the diffs and buy a motor.
The savy is a good design from the start. I would hate to see it put to the waste side. It just needs alittle help and a diet

Wow mx starting yet another arguement..

Frost just ignore mxracer, he thinks he knows everything.. Its just sad that he needed thermal to walk him threw on how to put his fuel tubing on, Oh yea and he needed my help taking his cooling head off, Can't forget that he couldnt even figure out that his one way bearing was shot he thought his engine was ruined lol.

Ok man, all of your posts i can barely read. Please improve your spelling or something... Spellcheck??? lol no offense dude.

the new savage should have a tvp, but spread out more, and lower. i great racer is teh hpi mt2 i have both, the mt is way more nimble, like noght and day. teh engine is pos thopugh and loves to trun hot.t eh savage handles like a tank compared to the mt2, but it can fall from a air plan and not break

[&:]Wrong place for that question crash..... Most of us don't care enough about the t-maxx to be able to answer your question. But I am sure that the t-maxx was not the first, just the most popular because of it's newby apeal through add-wizards at Traxxas[:'(] They can't make a good MT to save their life, but they sure can sell stuf!!
