When flying my honey bee, I notice that the tail motor will speed up and slow down continuously, although it didn't do that when it was new, and right now it has about an hour and a half of flight on it. Is it going bad? Also, do you need to have a brushless controller to use a brushless tail motor. Thanks.

it could be. i dont know i own a GWS dragonfly and so far ive only burnt one out. also yes, yes you do

is it the motor itself? or is the tail rotor gear coming loose and not making contact with the motor pinion gear? In the beginning we had alot of trouble getting the tail rotor to stay on the shaft. After about 5 flights it would slide off the shaft and not be making good contact with the motor gear.

Ya, i had a problem in the beginning with the rotor coming away from the spur gear also, butI got that fixed. Another question, what is the difference between brushless and coreless?

If you haven't noticed any change in the operation of your main rotor since it was new but only noticed your tail motor has changed or worsened then it probably is the motor it's self. If it is functioning poorly even after a full charge then that would also indicate that the tail motor is probably going bad. To be sure give the battery a full charge, recheck the settings for tail motor operation, i think they are on the speed control under the canopy and if it is still operating somewhat wildly i'd go ahead and replace it and you should probably order 2 or 3 more as you will probqbly burn em out as well and that way you'll have them ready to go. To use a brushless motor,you need a brushless ESC to use a brushed motor you need a brushed ESC Using a seperate high frequency tail motor, or use the high authority motor made for the piccolo, (the two have the same mounting holes) which will work as well. One thing to check, the gain on the gyro controlling the tail motor. If it is not set right, you will get an oscillating effect. If you are gonna buy a new motor, seriousley think about an upgrade, because the stock motors are very weak. I don't know exactly what a coreless motor is, but I believe it is a kind of brushless motor. Check Helihobby.com in their electric motors section to consider upgrades....
