Default WREN TURBOPROP TEST TEST FLOW YESTERDAY.

Here’s a picture of my new Wren Turboprop that turned up this morning. It is the version that is designed to drop straight in to the Graupner Turbo Raven without any modification to either the engine or airframe. The gearbox s now oil filled so there is no separate oil tank to feed it, which makes the install much easier. The airframe is superb and only took a few evenings to complete, just need to fit the engine and I am away.

Mark,

I would of course let you borrow it but I fitted it last night and put pleanty of thread lock on the bolts. If only you were a bit quicker....

I fitted the engine last night and as they said it just dropped in to the existing holes. Brilliant!

Yes it is the gas tank but I think it is the one they use for bench running the engine,it has a fitting to screw it to the bench and the large size will stop the gas chilling if you do frequent starts.I will be fitting a smaller tank in the airframe and the larger tank will be fitted to my test stand.

There is a molded PC-9 coming from Stefan Volker's new company which I may get and fit a JetCat SPT-5 to, I'll let you know...

Awesome! What size prop will you be using? Is there a web site for the Raven kit? I have about ten flights on two different Jetcat SPT-5's. Spinning a 25x12 mejlik 3 blade. After the last flight the highest recorded prop rpm was 8100 with the engine set to run 158,000. flying them in a 14' Cessna Caravan and an Airasys Turbo Raven. Coolest thing I played with in a long time. You think watching a turbine spool up is cool check out one of these! Will have both airplanes at Fla. Jets.

Tim I would love to listen to one spool up. I have had my Graupner raven kit for months but no sign of my Jetcat engine yet (hint Dave) as i understand there was some teething problems with the gearbox.

PS Tim, i will try to bump into you at florida jets

anyway good luck with yours Jason

Imagine 4 of those beauties in a scale Hercules or C130 to our American friends........

A challenge for those minded to do the big stuff!!!

Jason,

I note the data terminal is now in a black box, is that compatible with the older style of data terminal would you know and also, is that a new mounting bracket for the pump?

Just wonder if those bits are available to us MKIII owners.....?

Wren Turbines, I see you are reading!!!

Must get those chocolate Hobnobs and give you a call, that is some piece of engineering!!

Cheers,

Gazzer

I am building a Carden 35% Extra and installing a Jetcat SPT-5. I have just begun the front mount design and should have it finished by the end of the week. This is cool stuff......

best regards,

Eddie,

I love the quick removal of the manual!!

That is cool, I know were all being kids but it is just the way it starts up and runs!!!

I have not heard one fly, I can only imagine that it is a distinctive and steady pleasing noise. The turbine helicopters I have seen are a delight to listen to.

What is yours going in out of interest?

There is a conspiracy, not only is it Valentines day, but my firm have sent me to HQ in Holland for a bloody training course that I do not want to go on. So not even popular on the home front!!

I hope the weather is fine, and it goes a treat!!! I just bet it will!

You swine ... I had managed to forget all about what used to be my favorite bicky ... and you have to go bring Hobnobs up ! I bet they are milk chocolate ones too ! No fair.

Ah well... I'll be in the UK again in a couple of months - guess I'd better bring an extra suitcase for the Hobnobs, Birds Trifles, Curly Wurly's, Double Deckers, Flakes and all that stuff

Thinking about it, bring that empty suitcase full of model goodies that are sooooooooo much cheaper and you can take back a trunk full of Hobnobs, they have a long shelf life you know.......

Hi guys!

What about this link to Stephan Völkers website?

http://www.skygate-collection.de/Produkte/pc_9.htm

It shows the flying plug of the PC-9. But it will take some time, I think.

Greetz,

David
