New O.S. 18 TM in S-Maxx today
I am a happy camper. On the 4th tank I was pulling the wheels up and only running about 180-190 degrees. Got to dark too finish the break-in but things look promising.
No fan of the spring mount for the header but other than that, no complaints!

Sweet, I got halfway through my 3rd tank today and the spur decided to blow. [:@] I rushed when I was getting it in and meshed it bad i guess.

I had to gun it a couple times while i was running it around
After the little lag(turbo lag[>:], actually it is still very rich) it would get up and go, very quick acceleration. During the 1st tank with it off the ground idling I had a huge puddle of oil sitting under it from where it was dripping from the exhaust, very very very very rich.

Damn!!!! Just finished the 5th tank and the tune. Dialed it in about 250*. It is amazing how fast it will reach the speeds needed to switch to 2nd gear.
Half throttle will lift the front wheels on the street OR in the grass. Thats with a FULL roll cage, many aluminum parts AND 4WD hop up [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]
I did not have to mess with the idle much just a HAIR less. Same went for the low speed needle. It was running a bit rich. Pulled about a 1/16 of a turn. Perfect!
This thing idles better than the TRX ever did. It has yet to quit on me. I have waited several mintues on many occasions, every time I bought it in to check the temp. Just sits there waiting to go [8D]
Oh that reminds me. I found the best place to check the temp (or the hot spot if you like) is on the outside near the bottom of the motor (muffler side). It would run 20* hotter there than any reading I could get off the top (inside) of the motor. I assume it is because the cooling head is doing its job so well.
Anyway, for those of you thinking about this motor. I highly recommend it! [sm=RAINFRO.gif]

that's what i originally started with was an S-Maxx, upgraded to T-Maxx now. with the 2.5 in it i couldn't keep the front wheels on the ground. you must be able to do stand still back flips with the TM in it. [8D]

Update: I went racing (more bashing really) with a few buddies yesterday and were telling them I was running "rich as a pig" because the motor just had a "bit too much". I saw a few eyes roll. So I leaned it out a tad.
Not even on full throttle... I could pull and hold a wheelie for 5-10 feet (remember I have a full, heavy, roll cage and 4WD)
It was screaming and you could hear its spin off the spur gear if you pulled the throttle too fast when it was going slow. Everyone there was like, "Damn that is sick". I said, "Told ya!" [8D]
Turned it back down too. "Rich as a pig" is fine and it is there if I need it.

What are your temps? Because if you dont run it to cold then it wont expand like a ntiro engine should. If you run it around the settings where it runs its best or colse to it then you should be fine.

You aren't supposed to take temp readings near the exhaust, it is typically a higher temp. You should get the temp from the head by the plug. If you check out the sensor gauges they will tell you to position the sensor on the oposite side of the engine from the exhaust to avoid reading erroneously high temps from the exhaust header.
Just FYI

I have checked the temps all over that motor trying to find the hottest spot, and for -my- setup it is the bottom of the motor, near the carb (muffler side).
For fun today I leaned it out a bit (plus it was about 65* outside). I had the thing screaming faster than it had ever gone before and could not find an area on that motor hotter than 260*. (I keep a temp probe in my pocket most all the time when running the trucks)
I was shocked... just shocked. Never seen anything like it. O.S. has my complete respect.

O.s is undisputably and unquestionably the best engine manufacturers in the world!

Seeing that pic, I have to ask... how does the lst compare to the revo? In power, speed, handling (both race and bash), tuning and durability.
I am falling in love with the LST's but they don't look like they would be all that durable.

RE: New O.S. 18 TM in S-Maxx today
Honestly, I prefer the LST. My son prefers the Revo. One thing about the Revo is besides the brake pads falling out I haven't touched it. The LST was #4000 something and it's had to have the diff cases replaced, Hi/Lo mechanism, shock shaft, and one broken a-arm (my fault). Talking with a guy at the LHS he told me that the newer LST's don't have the same problems as the older ones. Our track is tight and rough and the LST does a great job. The Revo does just as well and I've actually only driven it a few laps at the track. They're both great trucks and I think anyone would be happy with either. Since adding the TM to the Revo I think it's as fast as the LST now if not a bit faster. They both handle really well and take a lot of abuse. Durability would be an edge to the Revo. Performance wise I think they're pretty evenly matched. The LST just looks cooler IMO and it's a truck that not everyone has. Everyone at my track has a Revo. I haven't seen another LST yet.

RE: New O.S. 18 TM in S-Maxx today
I plan on getting an OS 18 for my Tmaxx. I have the only Pro .15 in it, so it going to be a massive improvment. I was wondering though, am I going to need to upgrade the transmission any to handle the OS? I'm not completely sure, but I dont think I'll have to. But, I'll check anyway
