Could Someone help
Hi I'm a newbie and learning,
I'm about to replace my worn out pinion gears and spur gears but when I see that there are alot to choose from I'm confuse, what do the numbers mean 18T-22T.... 19-21T will I have better acceleration when I choose a higher number gear ratio? And also while I'm at it, what are the pitches (P) stand for?
My stock gears are 18T-22T but I want to have more acceleration and top speed

well i the lower the "T" (like 14t-or lower) the faster it can go and it depends how low your esc can handle.............................. accelaration is about bit higher than 18T. Racing legal is 19t i think not sure though.

Basher, hes on about Gears- not motors.
Ok, lets try and not confuse you here! the last post was about new motors and the number of turns they have, but it sounds like you want new gears yes?
If soI will try my best although im not to farmiliar with electric gears.
The Pinion gear attaches to you motor, and the spur to your drive train.
Pinion Gear:
Incrase size (more teeth) = higher speed/lower acceleration
Decrease (less teeth) = lower top speed / higher acceleration
Spur Gear:
Increase size (more teeth) = lower top speed/ higher acc
decrease (less teeth) = higher top speed / lower acc
If you gear too high the motor will struggle, get hot and your run times will decrease. Gear too low and the car may be hard to control (spins the tires) and wont go very fast, your esc and motor may overheat as the motor wont have enough load on it.
The pitch of the gears is to do with the size of the teeth. im not exactly sure how it is measured. The pinion and spur will need the same pitch to mesh together properly. also try not to change the pitch from stock.
