Steering Servo Keeps Stripping Gears
Hey,
I'm new to R/c cars and just bought a Nitro Monster Truck. I love it when it works, but I've had it two weeks and have replaced the steering servo gears twice in it due to stripping. After the first time it stripped I was extremely careful handling it as to not make the wheels turn while the servo was not moving, but when I took it out with the new gears it stripped the new ones in less then 10 minutes of driving. Any reccomendations? Or suggestions as to keep this from happening?
Thanks in advance,
John

RE: Steering Servo Keeps Stripping Gears
What servo are you using? Plastic or metal gears? Do you have a servo saver kind of device? It's like a piece with spring wire, that allows the servo to move the wheels, but any extreme force will be absorbed by the spring (rather than servo rods just going BANG and there go the gears)

RE: Steering Servo Keeps Stripping Gears
what monster truck is it? some have built in servo savers.
the having no servo saver is most likely your problem, a lot of people use one made by kimborgh(sp?) but most any would do. a metal gear servo would help, but if you don't have a servo saver in there you'd break it somehow also

A Tonegawa SSPS105 Servo should just be enough.
All in all, I think I will see how it does with the servo saver on, and if it keeps stripping gears I'll try a metal gear.
Thanks all for your help!
