need help with old t-maxx!!!>>>>
Hi, i bought a used gen. 1 t-maxx and have put a lot of money and effort into it. I have 2 problems though, when i roll the truck the transmission does not spin, i can spin the tranny very easily. I started it and it just revved up and i shut it off. Another problem i have is the linkage, more precisely, the throttle linkage, it opens the carb fine, but when i hit the brake, it closes all the way and will probably kill the engine. If anyone could post a close up of how the linkage should be , that would solve that problem, i dont know about the tranny though, does it have a nuetral?? Thanks!

Also, the front had really bad toe in, like 10 degrees. So i tightened up the turnbuckles and now it has 1 or 2 degrees. But when i compress the suspension, it has horrible toe out, about 5 or 6 degrees. Any suggestions? thanks!

first, about the tranny, I'm guessing it has reverse, right? is the shifting servo in the right position? I've had mine stuck between forward and reverse before and it doesn't go anywhere... the shift rod in the tranny should be all the way against the tranny for forward, and all the way forward for reverse
about the throttle, raise the engines idle position(little screw with a spring under the head), I'm betting that's your whole problem
and the suspension, the turnbuckles are supposed to be on the bottom of the knuckle on the tire side, and on top of the tie rod on the truck side, that's most likely your problem there

At idle the transmission should freewheel. If you slowly increase the throttle, the internal forward clutch will start to engage and forward motion will be jerky until it hooks up. If you hit the gas hard it should jump right in and go. If you are having to rev it very much to get forward motion and your slipper is not burning, first check the engine clutch to make sure it's working correctly. If it's OK you may need to replace the internal forward clutch. If you don't care about reverse, a FOC does away with the internal forward clutch.
