WHICH YAK WOULD YOU BUY
Which 30% Yak
I have a Brison 3.2
I'm not aware of any other 30% available at this time.
Looks are irrelevant, it's flying capability is most important.
Please no composite. (it's for my crappy field near my house too small for 35%- 40%)
Thanks

RE: WHICH YAK WOULD YOU BUY
T.Bob, you left out the AeroTech Yak & Lanier just came out with one.The ad is in the latest Model Aviation.
My Brison 3.2 is also looking for a "50" size Yak.
The thing I don't like are the built-up wings on all of these as opposed to foam sheeted wings.
...and I wish the heck somebody would come out with a "50' size Yak KIT.

RE: WHICH YAK WOULD YOU BUY
Since we may never see EF yaks again in the near future, I would go with the TOC yak, I would prefer it over the QQ and BME yak just for the fact that it is already setup for a can. The bme and qq are top quality too, but I am just tired of stock exhausts and all the noise, just my .02

This is the Aviation models (formerllyTOC) 30% I just purchased. you can see the cannister tunnel under the firewall that flynrazrback mentioned about. I'm running a pitts initially but it will be an easy drop in later.

I have the EF Yak but if you eliminate it from the mix then I would go with the QQ..Its made at the same factory and since the quality of the EF is so high you would be hard pressed to find a better built arf

PW, looks great. does the engine stick out the bottom of the cowl? I was surprised to see some pics of the QQ with the DA that it stuck out as compared to the EF that didn't. I'd be interested to know how much yours ends up weighing and how it performs. I see it has approx the same wing area as the EF and QQ but quite a bit shorter WS yet the fuse looks bigger. additional pics would be great.

The Extreme flight does stick out of the bottom of the cowl.Just the very top of the head and plug boot.Do not know much about the Yaks you have on the poll, but my Extreme Yak is simply the best plane I have ever flown. To bad they are at a stand still right now.I love it so much I am on the next list to have a backup one for when needed.

RE: WHICH YAK WOULD YOU BUY
I'm going with the TOC, from what I have read there are almost no complaints about the TOC yak.
EF would be nice BUT, I have tried to call them for over a week, mostly got a answering machine that was full. I dont want that aggrevation down the road, if I needed a part.
BME,seems has a following, but I have read about several weaknesses in that plane.
I've made up my choice the TOC. As Aerosheldon said the Wildhare is worth a look.
BTW the scheme shown on Chief aircraft is a exclusive for chief buyers only.

If you order it from Chief you will get it fast. I've always received my orders from them quick. This scheme is in stock. Mine will be flying as soon as the rain lets up. I know they fly great, but this plane looks awsome as well. The quality of construction was right on the money and everything fit perfectly together.
Good Luck

RE: WHICH YAK WOULD YOU BUY
Aeroworks is going to kick it up a notch with their 50CC Yak due in Feb. I was over at their plant last week and saw the 2nd prototype. It's really nice. I build all of my stuff and am not fond of ARF's but I would be very tempted to get this one. It's going to be about $600.00 with all good hardware, the control surfaces even come with the hinges glued in. They use Robart hinges. The canopy is pre mounted. I also saw Aeroworks new projects and Rocco is really kicking the quailty of his products up to a new level. Jim

RE: WHICH YAK WOULD YOU BUY
TOC Yak 54 / Aerotech Yak 54
W.S.
87" / 84"
Length 75.5" / 80"
Weight 15-16 Lbs. / 16 Lbs
Wing Area 1411" Sq. in. / 1410" Sq. in.
Wing loading 26.13 oz/Sq. Ft. / 26.14 oz./Sq. Ft.
Same Wing area at the same weight, should be very close in flying abiltiy.
The Aerotech with the shorter W.S. should have a quicker roll rate.
Both are setup for a canister, trim schemes are about the same, TOC comes with more hardware, but cost $100.00 more.
I liked the bottom color scheme of the Aerotech better.
I agree that the Aerotech Yak 54 is the one to get, so much so that I "Pre-Ordered" mine today.

RE: WHICH YAK WOULD YOU BUY
Anything more specific about the Aeroworks 87" Yak? A friend ordered one at the Tuscon Shootout. Said it looked good, but I would like to see pics and find out specific specs. Any links?

RE: WHICH YAK WOULD YOU BUY
I vote for the authentic Yak. The EF Yak. There are used ones in excellent condition on the forum here and other similar sites. EF is top quality and no problems with mine and it does have a pipe tunnel. TOC yaks are EF yaks, I understand that is where the design came from.

RE: WHICH YAK WOULD YOU BUY
I have seen the EF yak, its very nice, no doubt, but its not available now, and no one knows if and when it will be available again. There are lots of other choices in the 50cc size for yaks, thats for sure, that are available now.

RE: WHICH YAK WOULD YOU BUY
I would love an EF yak but I also want a plane that is replaceable if neccesary. If I got one who knows when I could another one? Plus I have tried calling EF for the last week during business hours and I only get a machine usually with a full voice mailbox. I guess thats better than being on hold forever.
