should I upgrade my Roswell Flyer?
Ok don't laugh, I am one of those dinaosour that still flies a Roswell Flyer. It does have the newer Draganfly frame on it now. I was wondering if it's worth the money to upgrade it to the latest Draganfly VTi main board?
The Roswell flies fine, although the stick response is rather slow. The thermal imaging feature is nice but I am used to making the corrections myself (been flying helis for a while).
For those who has seen/fly the old and the new, can you give me some reasons to justify the upgrade costs?
Thanks!
Stephen

RE: should I upgrade my Roswell Flyer?
How well can you fly our old one? Can you do everything it is capable of? I have a DFII for quite a few years and still gives challenges me in trying to fly as good as that new modded X-UFO seems to fly (see other post). I don't think that I have truly mastered full capabilities of my flyer, it keeps me active on the sticks, its a bit of sentimental favourite compared to my other little electric helis which come and go, and so no need for me to update really.
Just my two cents worth ............

RE: should I upgrade my Roswell Flyer?
I can fly it around in figure 8 no problem. Although last evening one of the blade struck the carbon boom and took two chunks off. This was just from flying around, probably as result of banking in a steep angle. The blades are probably 10 years old and may have become too soft. So I ordered some new ones hoping they will be a little stiffer.
I did have to add POSITIVE exponential to all controls to speed them up. But it's still not as easy to hover as the T-Rex helis. I was wondering if the new electronnics on DF V improves on the response through updated circuitry.
BTW I also bough one of those X-UFO. It does the flip of death on me too many times so I don't fly it as often anymore. I'll wait until somebody comes out with a plug-n-play piezo upgrade. Just don't want to mess with modifying the stock electronics.

RE: should I upgrade my Roswell Flyer?
I too am interested if the later versions have upgraded software to improve stability.
Does anyone have any comments on comparison of early vs later DF versions, or are the algorithms for tilt/angular velocity/motor speed roughly the same (maybe with additional, although perhaps separate, algorithms for the Ti)?
Anyone? Anyone?

RE: should I upgrade my Roswell Flyer?
I guess my Roswell flyer is as extinct as the dinosours. Just based on the overwhelming response I think I better upgrade my circuit board.
