I just got a set of Dave Brown Lite Flite wheels, 3 1/4", for my Sig 4 star 40. I had 2 3/4" Great Planes lite wheels on there, but needed something bigger for flying from grass. After I put them on, they seem a bit flimsy, like the side walls might lean over. I wanted a lite wheel, and these weigh in a 1.1 oz ea, which is much better than 3.7 oz ea for my Dubro 3 1/2" set that I have. Has anyone used these, and what do you think?

Hey, saw this and had to hit. These are great wheels. I love them and they are lite! Don't worry about the flex, this will help when you don't stick the landings God Bless.

I use them on my Funtana 40 and they work great. On some planes, like the Funtana, they landing gear can get ripped out of the plane easily and the taller softer tires seem to help out in the grass.

I use them on my 10 + lb pattern planes and they work fine but...

Don't store the airplane on the wheels and you will have to replace them every couple hundred flights as the hub does cut into the foam.

well, sounds like i made the right choice for my plane. sounds like it should be good for my somewhat weak gear too, which doesn't take to kindly to my hard landings.

don't let 'em set on the wheels! I pulled a super-hots out of storage (3 years) and had the biggest flat spot on the tires you've ever seen! Let it set for about a month, and it never did come out, had to get new ones. simple fix... Just hang the thing on the wall!

I like Dave Brown wheels also.

One other comment... If you let exhaust from your engine blow directly on the foam, eventually over several hundred flights the foam will swell up.

I am wondering if anyone has come up with a way to coat the tires so they are sealed and smooth like rubber tires.

My rubber tires come off the aluminum hub sometimes, what will keep them on

If you must store your plane on the wheels, set wheels on at last 1/2 inch foam rubber.

Dave Patrick are my favorite "light as air" tires. 3 inch and 3.25 inch are 0.7 ounces. Yes they are the foam type not good for asphalt but the hubs are as tough as nails. I pancaked my Edge in from a dead stick and the hubs did not crack (the plane is fine, just bent the gear). I also turned a 17 pound gasser sideways very hard at a good speed and did not crack the hubs (ran out of runway during a landing, whups). Man these things are light and tough. Dave Brown stuff is good too.
