Mojo low rates??? (new to 3d)
What should I set my throws at on my low rates. I am new to 3d and am worried about stuffing my newly built Mojo the first time out. Also, how much exponential do you guys usually use. I have never used expo either. Any help here would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Hunter

Thanks Paul! I just read in your instructions to use 1" (or less if you are new to 3d), so I set mine at 3/4". I will try the 30% expo as well. Have any good tips for the maiden?
Thanks again!

Make sure you flight check it real good... Have someone else double check as well... do a range check.... Check the control surface deflextion is in the right direction.. and the control linkages are solid.
After all that... Just have fun!

The plane flys so well and predictable that you can handle it with 1 inch of travel. I was relativly new to 3D and I set it up with one inch of travel and it flew very stable. Ste low at 1 inch and ste high at all you can get (just go up high before switching to high rates) and have a blast with your new plane!

Bud post some pics of your new bird and don't worry about the covering job. We all just love them mojo's. I have one and it has taught me some much its crasy. Just spend the time to get it trimmed right and balenced how you like it. It will do everything you ever wanted to learn and is easy to repair to boot.
The only thing I have changed on mine is to put a bit of hard wood in the tail for the tail wheel because it always lands in a 30+ degree up angle and sometimes rudder first.
Awsome Plane

The good news: The Mojo flew very well, and I didn't crash it!
The bad news: My new pup did a lil' chewin on the end of the wing on the leading edge. Nothing that can't be easily fixed though.
Where do you guys like your cg's. Mine is 4" behind the LE, and flew a lil' tail-heavy. I had to land it pretty hot to keep from doing a harrier landing........which I don't know how to do. If I need to I can move the TT .46 forward about 3/4" or 1". BTW it's finished weight was a hair over 4 lbs. I'll start a new thread to ask a couple of other questions I had.
Thanks fellas,
Hunter

Hey bug, great to hear that your maiden went well. I have my CG at about 5.5" behind the leading edge at the root. I think if your coing in and going into a harrier then that your ailerons may be a bit high. Make them parallel with the tube and that should get you close. Don't forget to put a bit of trim in your elevator if you do or be ready to trim it after take off. Are you running a 12" prop and if so I hope it is a 12 x 4 or a 12.25 x 3.75. If you have another prop on there you may want to try one of these. Heck some people like the 11.5 x 4 also. Get it trimmed and put a bit of time into it and you will love it.

Thanks Dave. Yes, I am using the 12.25 x 3.75 prop. I did align the ailerons with the tube, but I'll try lowering them a little more to see if that helps. It might just be that I am not used to flying this type of plane. This is basically my second plane. I flew my trainer for a year, and have about 18 or 20 flights on a friends Skyraider 2. I really do like the Mojo, and hope to put many flights on it.
Thanks,
Hunter

if it is just coming in and touching the tail wheel first, just get used to it. if it is coming in at a 45 degree angle the fix it. Oh, by the way, Don't be afraid about dorking it, it is bullet-proof. First my step-dad dropped a ladder on the tail and broke the tail off. I fixed it and then just a few weeks ago I got my fuel lines bassakwards and I went into a hove 30 feet up (before you say it I am usually only a foot off but I was just trying out some new mixes up a little higher and backing it down. I know 30 feet is the worst place to have a engine quit) and the engine died and the plane flipped over and started heading straight for the ground, and I thought to myself, "you know Brian, if you go the direction of the fall (in this case foward) and land it on it's back, you will be reparing stringers on the top of the fuse. The engine is mounted to solid ply-wood to which is attached a graphite tube." so I put in straight in on its nose and the ONLY THING THAT BROKE WAS THE PROP!!!!!! It is so much stronger than other profiles that would have had their fuses turned into foam dust. The point I am trying to make is don't be afraid to try harrier landings/ hovers right off the deck. In fact this is the best place to learn because it can't picked up momentum to drive it into the ground. YOU WILL NOT HURT IT! IT IS A MOJO!! so get low (with an aft cg) and fly the hell out of the airframe!

That is a hell of a step up from the mach-2. In fact I used to have one and had a ball flying it. Its cheap and real easy to fly. That mach-2 has got to be one of the easiest planes around to land. With the CG set conservitily it will land itself. All it sounds like you need to do is burn some gas and that is the best way to learn it all anyway.
I personally like the 12 x 4 better since it spools up so quick but some guys like the prop you have since it does make a bit more thrust. Anyway just cheap having fun with it since it is the BEST plane out there in my opinion. Oh yeah and durable as hell to.
