My parents decided that i can get another car for my birthday. I will run my car on dirt and grass. Possibly the most important thing to me is speed but I also am looking for a durable car. If you could give me your thoughts on the subject that woould be great. Thanks for your help.

I am deciding between the MT2 18ss or the Savage X

Oh, from what you wrote I thought you wanted a "car". The MT2 18ss is a kit which means you have to build it, and the savage X is a ready to run truck which means all u need is batteries, fuel, and a glow-plug. Also the MT2 18ss is more of a truggy than a monster truck.

If you are intrested in a rtr truggy the hellfire might work for you, if you just want to bash and maybe one day make it a racer the X is a good choice. There are many brands out there so before you decide have an open mind and look into all options.

for just bangin around the yard, i'd get the 18SS HPI MT. the Hellfire would do much better at doing the same, but it's a LOT more expensive (good luck trying to convince your parents to drop over $600 on a toy car, lol)

I'd recommend the Savage X personally. fast, fun, tough, but it's not as fast as the 18SS HPI MT or the Hellfire

I have an 18ss MT2 and a T-Maxx. My maxx can take more of a beating than my 18ss. I had to buy some moab tires to raise the 18ss up a little so it would stop hitting the rocks. The only problem I have with the 18ss is that the steering knuckle that rides in the C hub keep on popping out when I land on some jumps. I might have to try some aluminum ones from asia tees. Other than that, the 18ss doesn't really like tall grass. Also, don't skimp in a radio. I bought a cheaper Futaba because it was my first kit and it was cheaper but trust me, don't get the cheapest radio you can find. If tuned right, the 18ss is pretty fast.

Have you thought of the Savage SS 4.6 Kit? It's just like the mt2 18ss, its a kit. It's also faster than the savage x. It have planty more hop ups in it too.

Have you thought about a 1/8th buggy? If your thinking of the MT2 then its worth considering...I just got an Avenger Storm RTR (GS Racing) for $465AU ($350US) shipped from Austrailia (to New Zealand), Thats a steal really and halfway through breakin and this thing goes really well.
But any of the afore mentioned trucks/truggies/stadium trucks would suit your purpose...just depends on which one you like the best...

I have both the MT and Savage and like them both as well as I race both. People at the track call my MT old fateful.
