Grounded
Over confident, flew up hit the ceiling and my first instinct was to kill the throttle, came down like a rock...broke the top stick off a motor mount clean under a main rotor, new ones are on the way. I have ordered several parts in case my reflexes don't catch up with my ambition. What is a good stock of parts to have on hand? More motor mounts, main gears...? I am working on a set of landing gear that I hope will minimize the damage to the motor mounts and cushion some of the impacts of my uhhg graceful landings.

RE: Grounded
Ok, this may look very crude but it is version 1, it takes the impact weight and distributes it across the frame instead of the motor mount. I hope that this will protect the motors and mounts a bit better than nothing. Here are a couple of images, one with the camera installed (I have only performed 2 foot hovers with the camera and it has potential for sure), the second image is a close up of one of the landing gear and hurried/poor workmanship. I will streamline the design to make them a bit lighter by drilling some holes in them, I have some time until my parts arrive...
From my reading of this forum I understand I will half the motor life with all this weight (approx 4.3 oz = camera+landing gear) but I hope to increase flight time by not repairing mounts. When I am well rehearsed the landing gear can go.

RE: Grounded
Hi Blackdragan,
I use a Pico switch connected to the 6 channel and operate the camera by turning the flap knob. The camera has two leads directly soldered to the camera switch, I lost the two phase push by using the pico switch but the camera auto focuses regardless. Manually the camera works as it should. I haven't flown it outside yet and only managed to capture some video from indoor practice -when in video mode you activate the flap switch once to turn on and again to turn off.

RE: Grounded
The front landing gear does get in the frame so I have to turn the camera a bit as shown in the picture above so that it just misses - I would have like to shoot straight ahead, heck I'll be happy just to be able to fly with it.
