need your help with diff gears!
Hi guys, i have a tmaxx with a xtm .21pro in it... 2.5hp @ 36k rpms and it rips my diff gears aparts. I am using robingson racing gears and it tears them right up... I am not even doing donuts.. any suggestions as to what to do .... oh yeah, silicone grease is packed in the diffs.. not diff oil... how do you guys that have picco's and sts 30 in your tmaxx's keep this from happening.. i heard shimming the diffs works... please help!

RE: need your help with diff gears!
First thing is diff shimming. You have to be sure to shim them just right, and how many shims are needed and where seems to vary.
That being said, properly shimming your differentials doesn't help much if you have excessive flex in the diff cup or even the diff housing.
If the problem is with shredding the spider gears I would pick up an aluminum diff cup.
If the problem is with shredding the ring gear and pinion gear, I would first try shimming them up nice. If you are already shimming them properly, and the sreding the pinion and ring, you may want to look at an aluminum diff housing, but that doesn't seem likely to be necessary, as there are tons of guys running stock diff housings and monster BB's without constant excessive diff failures.
Also, contact RR support. They should be able to give you ideas. Aren't there gears the ones that come with a nice warranty? If so, I'm sure it would be in there best interest to help you with this problem rather than having to replace gears for you repeatedly.
