CALIFORNIA JET PICS!!!!!!!!!!!
What an event!! 78 pilots and well over 100 planes, it was one heck of a weekend.
I have 336 pictures to go through so I will be adding for quite some time but anyone else feel free to post up here. Heres a few pics to get you guys started while I go unload my car.

I had a real great time this year. The event was well organized and with all the jets (120+) and 81 pilots I was able to get 16 flights on my Rookie II (Friday and Saturday). I'd like to thank Kenny and his crew for a great event and the banquet was nicely done as well. See below for pictures..........

I had even more fun this year than last. What a great time and many thanks to the Buttonwillow crowd for taking care of us all. Got my turbine waiver (BIG THANKS to Greg F and Kenny F for your help and signatures, many beers owed to you both for sure!!!).
It was the show of the year already for me, everone was really working the flight lines well together and I couldn't have asked for a better 78 guys to fly with.
Uncle Joe, your pics are great, you are a class act and really make the event when it comes time to look back at what we all took in at 200 mph throughout the several days. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the "BUTTA" shots in the new mag. Thanks in advance to all the other photo guys that I don't know yet, I'm looking forward to seeing all the pics!!! We had a lot of eye candy to look at, well airplanes at least

Kenny, Dave, and the rest of the CA Jets crew... THANK YOU! We had an awesome time, and your event really put us on the map with the jet community! We look forward to next year, so count us in now!

BTW, that's a great lady & kid you've got there buddy. I think we can count on one hand how many of the ladies would come out to a jet meet with their guy and sit there in the heat & dust all day every day, and still always have a smile on.

Thanks Bob. Still needs all of the weathering work to be done, and a properly done canopy etc in place of the quickly-cobbled together one that I shoved on it for the first few flights. That will all come with time though, as I wanted to make sure it flew well enough before investing much more time into it. So far, the flying characteristics are VERY nice, and super-stick Dave Presta (who has done all of the shake-down flying for me) likes it enough that he wants to know where he can get an ARF version so that he can enjoy flying one without having to do a build. Almost all of the flying was done at 1/2 throttle, and that's on a VERY old generation P120.
Wish we'd managed to get some more flying time on it at the meet, as it would have been great to get some high-def video by Paul ... but this just turned into a "work on it" weekend rather than a "fly it" one. First attempt to fly it on Saturday morning was greeted with a failure to get the engine running due to a fuel pump problem. (Darn Jetcats ... they lure you into a false sense of security, with this engine doing hundreds of flights in other models over the last 4 or 5 years with no issues, then just when you come to the conclusion that it's unbreakable, it says "you've been taking me for granted too much ... how about that TLC you promissed me so long ago?)
Second flight attempt, after a pump replacement (Thanks goodness for the spare installation kit I carry around) ; I stupidly let myself get distracted at the start-up area when someone was chatting to me as I filled the retract tank. Looked down and saw over 200 PSI , followed by a pop and a hiss. More wrenching to find and fix that. After the one flight we got on it, part of the landing gear broke while wheeling the model out to the runway for the noon-time lineup ... just so many potholes in the pit area that I'd punished the fairly lightweight gear. I will need to contact Mick for some replacement parts.
Still - even one flight was rewarding, given all of the feedback. Hopefully the teething issues will subside as we get more time on the aircraft.
