Default revo keeps needing priming

hi
i just purchased a used revo its got good compression and it runs good runs real hot tho..I need to per...fect the tuning still but since i got it it needs to have gas poured down the carb to get it started...sometimes holding the pipe for a few seconds works but I'd rather just cure the prob...um i prob use different nitro then its used to I use sidewinder 20% .....it will idle nice but sometimes it just shuts off instsantly..ohhh and to get it to run its best that Ive had it run so far...ive got the big needle out like 6 turns or more..I put it at 3.75 then went to 4 turns it would bog when Igive it alot of gas not even quick gas either just gradual gas would bog it but richening it took that away but now it runs real hot like spits bubbles on it ...6 turns is a little much isn;t it? its like -5 outside near toronto oh and its real hot like that at around half tank so I stop and i cazn;t tell from the smoke because it seems white but i think thats just cause its cold out I dunno

Check for air leaks. mine did the same thing I found a leak at the carb also make sure its not clogged anywhere. DONT let it run hot I fried my motor trying to tune it. It was my first motor so I had to learn somehow.

Also I will never buy another used rc,You will spend more money fixing it right then just buying a new one. Since its used you probley do have a dirty carb or air leak thats exactly what happened toI didnt find it before I did damage. now I have to get a new 3.3 from traxxas 135.00.

If you find no air leaks you might take it to a hobby shop or local track and have someone tune it for you. Not only do you have to tune the high end but the low end needs to be tuned as well, and then the idle needs to be set. sometimes the high end it fine and lowside needs to be richer or leaner. By having to prime the motor even by dumping in nitro or holding the exhaust shut a lot of times means it is to lean on the high side and needs to have more nitro supplied to it.
