RE: Pulse Jet Fighter?
Hard to start, extremely, EXTREMELY LOUD, no throttle, & they glow red inside your plane! But I've seen a couple, one multi-engine, and MAN had a consruction article for an F-86 for one in the late 60's or early 70's. But it was lined with asbestos. Double bad. As I recall, World Engines was selling an OS pulse jet in the 60's for $20 (about the same price as the DynaJet) but you had to make your own starting equipment. Probably still do. Last I saw was they were well over $200.

RE: Pulse Jet Fighter?
I have a Dynajet mounted on an Ugly Stick. Woketman and I have had off-and-on fun (mostly off) with the pulsejets for some time. What we learned is that head pressure is the single most influential piece of the pulsejet pie. When we had the first OS pulsejet and fuel tank mounted to the test stand, it was impossible to start. When I took the fuel tank off and lifted it a 1/2 inch above the injector, it would start. But you had to drop the tank to keep it running. We had a similar experience with the Dynajet. Once we figured the trick out (head pressure), it started without a problem. Well, we also installed a pressurized fuel system. That was with gasoline. We haven't had as much luck with ethanol/ether mix. Injector nozzle is too small. All in all it's a lot of fun - and very loud.
