Landing gear problem related to landing gear block in wing
I have a fixed landing gear wire that goes down into a landing gear block in the wing. Secured by strips of aluminum or plastic that is screwed down over the the gear.
Question: The right angle that goes down into the hardwood block, the block has been enlarged enough that I am having play in the wire gear. I was thinking about lightly oiling the gear and then fill hole with slow dry epoxy, then put wire gear down into the hole. Once it dries I would hope to have a good fit, but still be able to pull the gear out for maintance.
Another way might be to glue a brass tube in the hole, then slide gear down into that.
Any ideas would be appreciated

I had an Alpha 40 with that type of gear and replaced them with the [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNM65&P=ML]Dubro Super Strength Landing Gear[/link]. I'm glad I did. A lot less work.

I just came up with another problem. It is an ARF and the factory drilled the hole all the way through. Any ideas on how to seal up the bottom end that is sunk into the wing.

you can take any scrap balsa and glue some together to get it just over size of the hole, then just round off the edges to be a tight/snug fit in the hole. you only need to put in a very short piece and push it in the hole with a drill bit or the landing gear. Mark the depth on what ever you use so you dont push your "plug" all the way through and end up with it rattling around in your wing.

Or you can let the epoxy set slightly so it won't run easily
You can use a toothpick to poke it into the hole. Remeber, you don't have to "Fill" the hole completely, just coat the sides.
Another thing you could do is - once the hole is filled, put a piece of tape over it. If air can't get in, it is less likely to run out the bottom.

Gel epoxy is commonly available at such places as Lowe's, Home Depot, Wally World, craft shops, and so on. The gel epoxy is formulated so that it stays where you put it. Mix some up, push it into the hole, wait 10 minutes and redrill the hole.
