T-Maxx 3.3 vs. AE Monster GT
hey guys i need your advice. im new into the hobby. i have done a lot of shopping and research. i have my heart set on the T-Maxx 3.3. it is a great all around truck for me. i will do some small jumping (out of ditches or small homade ramps) not excedeing 1-2 feet. it mostly will be driven in grass or down the street. i dont not plan to bash it. i want to do wheelies and have lots of power though. i looked at the monster gt too. i was wondering if it was any equivlant to the T-Maxx or if the T-Maxx would be worth the extra $$$. i want to also no if you think that a MGT will do great wheelies like the T-Maxx. thanks for your help!

The MGT is alot tougher than the MAXX , it will pull wheelies stock but not as easy as the T-MAXX . And its bigger than the T-MAXX .

I learned the hard way that grass will heat up any motor real fast also! I hit about 330 degrees from like 200 in about 4 or 5 minuites.

Its almost like driving uphill all the time. I dont know about the MGT but I can tell you that the new T-Maxx is a mess of weak parts.

FYI, the t-maxx 3.3 drivetrain is not the same specs as the 2.5. The 3.3 uses the revo spec drive shafts, and the revo spec trany that is quite a bit tougher. So the 3.3 will go through grass, its made to bash, nto very well, but nonetheless it still is a basher, by no means a racer.

i dont know what you guys do to your tmaxxs but mine runs all day in the grass and in fields and loose dirt and ihave no problems with my drivetrain and i have the 2.5 also. my biggest problems with the tmaxx where breaking arms and bulkheads.

revo and max drive shafts are the same, tranny isnt the same as the revo, and that is 2.5r spec, 2.5r is still a 2.5, the MGT is (hate to put it this way but it's true) a much better truck in terms of survivability and driveabilty.

The t-maxx 3.3 is a great truck. The only broken parts I have experienced are due to my own fault. These are Hobbies grade trucks, not kmart specials, so some knowledge in working with them is need, or will be learned. Wrenching on the vehicle is a must, no matter which one you choose. I have never run an MGT so I have no opinion either way, but my comments are that the MGT weights almost twice as the T, so it needs the big block to propel it to the same speeds as a 3.3 T. The T-maxx can be configured so many ways and there are so many after market parts, your imagination is your limit. It can be a racer, basher, or even a shelf queen.

The Savage is a great truck also, I don't own one, but know people that due. The breakage they have experienced is no more or less than mine. It will wheelie out of the box.
If all you are looking for is a truck that will be fun and just do wheelies, look at a wheelie King by HPI or just about any electric truck (E-maxx for example). If you are looking for easy out of the box running electric is your friend. Nitro, unless you are running one now, takes time to learn the tuning. Nitro is not friendly to those that are just looking for run when you want to, with no working on them.

i love my tmaxx it just cost so much to make it bulletproof. i will never own anything that has a pull start just get a roto start or hook up a easy start to your rc. the tmaxx is a quick truck for it size. just when its time to upgrade arms go with rpm arms they have a lifetime warrenty so if you break them they send you new ones

I own an MGT. I love it, and its a really really durable truck. It is an awsome basher, and it can pull wheelies in stock form, but its kinda hard. I have an Orion Wasp .28 (my profile says .26 but its wrong btw people) in my MGT, and it pulls wheelies on command. With the potent Orion engine, the truck really performs well, and I would reccomend it over a T-Maxx any day. The T-Maxx has alot of weak parts, and I think Traxxas really messed up. So go with AE man!! They have something like 20 IFMAR world champoinships under their belt..... and they make awsome vehicles!

Just make sure you dont buy a Wasp engine like he did^^^^^^^^[:@] No wonder its hard with the Wasp, I would imagine the stock 4.6 would have more juice...

tmaxx is a bit faster but the mgt is everything else thats better than the maxx. i always heard that tmaxxes will break someones pockets just to keep it running or to upgrade it. Anyone go on ebay and whats the one rc company you see that has the most stuff for sale all the time?
