2nd Annual Mid Nebraska RC Fun Fly & Air Show
I took the 5 hour drive to Grand Island, Nebraska. It was my first time out there and it was well worth the trip. Very nice facility, nice folks (polite, helpfull, & professional) the event was run very good. They have a 800'x 200' grass runway, club house with AC, 2 shelter area's, food, raffle's, prize's, good sound system, the work's I had a blast & I'm planning to go next year. If your some what near Grand Island, NE. next year, GO, you won't be disappointed. Here are a few picture's.

I had a great time. The Grand Island modelers has one of the nicest fields around with the A/C club house and permanent shade awnings it is a pleasure to fly there. The club members make every buddy feel welcome and the ladies involved with the club did a great job feeding the hungry.
The flying started at 9:00 AM and went till dark each day. At any time there was great flying going on from Foamies to giant scale warbirds to 3D. The scale and warbird guys had some beautiful aircraft and looked very realistic on the ground and in the air.
Time was made for every one to fly. there was no conflict between the different genres of flying. From the low high speed strafing passes that got grass stains on the prop tips to the torque rolls that came up with grass stains on the rudder, a good time was had buy all.
I love events like this, great flying and even greater pilots. I made a lot of new friends that I know will last a long time. The people are what make an event a success from the people hosting to the people attending and this event was a Success !
Thank you Rob for starting this post.

The Grand Island Modlers Really know how to take care of their fellow flyers. We were there all weekend and had a great time. The weather was hot but with the cool clubhouse to cool off in made it much better. Lots of good flying and new friends were made.

If you want a home away from home RC experience, then you need to go to the Grand Island Modelers annual event in Grand Island NE. I have never felt so welcomed by total strangers who soon tuned to great pals, these folks know how to treat their guests. There was great food and great prizes to be given away, and that's not all. The pilots were great, as well as their planes. It will be hard to match the amount of fun I had at the next events that I will attend this year.
Thanks to the Grand Island modelers and I'll see you next year!

WOW,
Thanks guys.
When this club lost it's flying field a couple of years ago and the GI modlers moved into this new field. I thought "hoo-hum" here we go again. Getting ANOTHER flying field in shape again. But due to many of the dedicated members of this fine club it all came together. Many of the members removed trees, picked up rocks, sowed grass and we used each others skills that each individual had. NO WAY would the yearly club dues cover this cost and many members wrote checks that were "over-the-top" to cover the expenses.
This tribute you guys made to the GI Modlers on this site makes it all worth while.
Thanks again...see you next year.

I didn't know about this or I might have gone. If I can remember, I might go next year. Is there an e-mail list I can get put on that will send me a reminder and more info?
