Smart-Fly Engine cutoff Question
Hi Guys,
I just ordered two smat-fly engine cutoffs for my two giant scale gassers.
I was thinking about the cut-ffs and was wondering if using them negated the use of a manuall switch?
Battery - switch - cutoff - ignition
or
Battery - cutoff - ignition
Any response is appreciated

RE: Smart-Fly Engine cutoff Question
I use them with out a switch -you just have to unplug your battery if your going to not fly for a day or two as there is a small parasitic current draw from the unit
or just put a switch between the cuttoff and battery
hope this helps

What battery you going to use? Switches? Regulators?
My set-up starts and ends like this; 7.4v Li-on Battery goes to a Cermark On/Off Switch w/Charge Jack, which goes to a Regulator, which goes to the Smart-Fly Cut off Switch, which goes to your Ignition and Receiver. Lots of wires, worth the effort.

RE: Smart-Fly Engine cutoff Question
The Smart Fly Engine Cut Off is a failsafe way to ensure you can kill the motor if anything goes wrong. It will also kill the engine if you loose radio signal. Its a keeper in my book. I use a switch also so I can disconnect the battery from the ignition when not flying. If you don't use a separate switch, the Smart Fly will draw a little power all the time.

RE: Smart-Fly Engine cutoff Question
I use a switch but it is mounted on the inside of the plane. I turn it on when I put my plane together and shut it off when I go home. Robert, the owner of Smart Fly does not use a switch. The battery is mounted at the front of the hatch for easy access to unplug at the end of the day.
Either way is fine.

RE: Smart-Fly Engine cutoff Question
Thanks Guys,
Since I already have an ignition switch mounted, I will go ahead and keep the switch active and mount the cutoff between the switch and ignition.
Thanks for all of your input.
