Default Which Yak would you get?

I'm at the point of ordering either a QQ 102" YAK 54 or the AeroWorks Quick Build YAK 54. Both I understand are good flyers but he QQ comes with all the carbon gear and the Aero Works doesn't and will probably weigh at least 2 or 3 lbs more when finished. I plan on installing cannister mufflers on which ever one I get and my engine will be the 3W 106 CS model. What do you think.

I've owned both and I agree with the last two posts. If it were me I would wait for the EF Yak. It should come in at the same weight as the AW with more wing area. Your 106CS would be perfect for it and waiting a month for the right airframe would be worth it IMHO.

Which of the two did you prefer? Have you seen the EF YAK I can't find any info on it except that it's due.

The QQ 102 was more tame and I felt more comfortable flying it. The AW was more uptight but would do more with better flying skills. I believe both would be better off with lower wing loading. I had a BME 115 in the QQ but after over a dozen dead sticks I replaced it with a 106. The 106 ran better but I did not like the plane as much with the extra weight. I never did get to fly the AW with the 115 but a freind of mine did and said it was much better than with the 106. With the EF Yak, the wing span and wing area will be better suited to the weight of the 106. Of course this is all my opinion and I will probably get flamed on it but I feel most of the 102" to 104" airframes are better suited to the DA-85 or a BME if they can get the issues sorted out. I must state I am more into slow flying 3D/ freestyle type flying so I prefer lighter wing loading over excess power so my tastes may be different than yours.

In all fairness I never really answered your original question. After flying both I would go for the QQ if I had to make a choice between the two. Besides the fact that I prefered the way the QQ flew. I feel that Aeroworks took the easy way out by squaring off the fuse. Instead of making a round fuse and figuring out a way to have the wing recessed inside the fuse cutout it is squared off so the wing easily butts up against it. I do realize that alot of the kits deviate from scale a bit but I have never seen a Yak with a square sided fuse. Again this is just my opinion.
