I had my maiden flight on the Sukhoi yesterday wiyh a ZDZ 80. The plane had great power on takke off and hovered at almost the same throttle settings as my friends H9 CAP 232 (same weight and size) with a BME 102. ZDZ is a great choice. Can't comment on the 3W. P.S. I used a pull pull for the rudder and added no weight to ballance. Plane flyes great. Have FUN

I have a zdz80 in mine too, and it has a fair amount of power also. But if you have the money Id go with the 100 twins on it, Im not so sure you would gain much with a twin 85.
Good luck!

I am building the same set up as you have where does your Sukhoi balance at. How far behind the tube (not the center of the tube!). My all up weight is 23# dry with to 1650 NIMH packs and two switches, pull pull rudder, also have ZDZ 80 on 2in. standoffs. Have not flown yet concerned about about balance, refuse to add weight. Do you have any pictures of your set up, sure would like to see them. You can see mine just click on gallery below. Thanks for any help!

I have the zdz80 in mine also, go into the giant scale forum and do a sukhoi search, I made a few threads on this engine/airframe combo!!

Mine right now is balanced almost 2" behind the tube, that is with 1.5lbs of lead on the firewall....

How did you get yours so light? according to the bathroom scale im about 25lbs

With the 2" standoffs where does the cowl come to on the fuselage? I have an GT 80 in mine right now and just ordered a ZDZ 80 for it. Was wondering if I'll need longer standoffs or will it be good with the 2" you used.

The 2" will work, I had 1.75" in mine and the prop is not too far from the cowl.

My standoffs are 1 3/4 inches. I purchased them from Chief as a design specifically for the Sukhoi. They worked great and the plane need no weight or alterations to ballance 1 1/4 inches behind the tube. The plane flyes great at this location. The cowel was mounted as designed and the is a small gap between it and the spinner. Have Fun
