Well owning the Rockett from zippkits i can safeley say id have this over a whipplash hands down if you want a boat that will run fast in rough water conditions. The whiplash is a fast boat if the waters calm theres no doubt about that but for me the rockett is an awesome boat when theres a chop on the water well capable of speeds over 65 maybe 70 mph .Dont right off the rockett in sports hydro either because i know of at least two doing very well against sports hydros. They come into thier own when things get rough ,might not be fashionable to race them in sports hydro been based on an old style thunderboat but who cares i love them.

If you plan on racing, Whiplash all the way. You'll currently find more clubs running sport hydro classes than thunderboat classes and the Whiplash is faster. I just bought a Whiplash GV after doing a fair bit of research on sport hydros, they are pretty much the undisputed leader. I'd have liked a wood kit, but the glass one came up at a good price so I went with it.
Even Joe of Zipkits agrees.

For racing in sport hydro, I would agree that the Whip is a better choice.
For Thunderboat racing or fun running, the Zippkits all the way. It is, afterall a thunderboat.
Of course, we may be slightly biased...
