RE: grounding the zen
How does your motor run without a ground? you need to ground from the brass side of the gray ciol to either side of the sorce coil and should be OK.
Good Luck,

RE: grounding the zen
ABSOLUTELY ... use supplemental grounding wires on ALL my engines.
Do a search on this, there are some threads on subject within the last month or so.
Here a copy and paste of one entry>>>
You should have what you need to understand your question ?
The primary coil grounds it's self by virtue of the lamination bolting down against the cases. Secondary coil has a BRASS tab as part of the mount boss on one side, it too MUST be grounded back to the cases same as primary coil is. this happens when mounted against the tabs under carb, but gets iffy when secondary coil gets mounted above starter and on remote mounting locations.
If the path of current on the "Ground" path is interrupted by corrosion, remote mounting of coil and subsequent anodizing of parts insulating the path of current flow, you HAVE problems !!

RE: grounding the zen
you guys sound like a couple of ... (fill in the blank) ;-)
I had to use a ground wire on the Dumas Scarab because I used WHH Composite mounts...go from the brass on the coil to the case (and use some loctite on the bolt) as Scott suggested above. It works like a charm.

why don't you screw it back to where it belongs? why was it expoxied to the engine in the first place?
