Mugen Sport-Seven?
Has any-one had or heard of a Mugen Sport-seven. It is a 4 wheel drive nitro powered truck I picked up at a sale that I am attempting to put together. I need some advice and or info on the engine installation.

I'm searching for you but I can't find a single thing on it. Are you sure that's what it is? I mean, and please don't be offended, is that what the manual or box or truck itself says? Is it 1/10 or 1/8th?

Yea,that's what the box says. It is a 1/8 scale 4wd gas powered buggy. The diagram on the box macthes the truck and the kit # is 0502.29800. If I can find my camera I am going to post a pic. Give me a minute and I will try to locate it.

Found my camera so I will try to post these pics. The problem I am having is spaceing the engine to the spur gear while keeping the bump start lined up. I am attempting to use a Team Orion Wasp 28.

Is there any way to adjust the motor mounts or are they solid? Try to take a few pics of the motor lined up and show the problem and maybe we/you can find a way to "rig" it to fit right.

I think I know what my problem is. Don't think I am stupid but do they make different lengths on the crank-shafts on car engines? The Wasp engine I have appears to be shorter than the piture on the box.The base of the block is well behind the carb giving me a problem with both the flywheel hitting the carb and the shaft being too short. Am I making any sense?

You're not stupid and I wouldn't think that. You're asking questions, which is good. Yes there are different crank lengths with motors. Some have a longer one and some shorter. That's your problem as you found out. See this link: http://radiocontrol.wikia.com/wiki/E...ankshaft_types
Is that motor new? It looks like a nice motor but useless if you can't use it. PM me the details and I'll see if I can help you out.

the engine looks like it has a cut crankshaft.....please take pic of the engine shaft......... you may be able to reverse the center diff, then the gears would line up

Slide the engine forward. Where it sits now even if it had a flywheel it wouldn't line up with the flywheel slot for a bump box. Put a flywheel on and line up the cb and spur gear and I bet it would fit. If not get a taller clutch bell.

RE: Mugen Sport-Seven?
I haven't bolted the engine down at all. The carb is hitting the triangle brace at the top. I have turned the carb every way I can and it still won't fit. I took the flywheel off to show the mount a little better. If I line up the bump start hole and the gears there is no room for the carb. I took the carb off and set the engine somewhat lined up so you can see what I mean. The only thing I can think of is if there is a type of engine with a longer nose and crank. Any guesses?

I don't know anything about this car but is the spur gear installed correctly? Looks to me like if you turn the spur gear around, it may all come together...

I can't turn that around but how about a clutch bell that is extended beyond the tip of the crank. I have a schumaker that has a three speed. It has three gears on the clucth. If I could find one that is extended like that with only the one gear ring I think it would all line up.

RE: Mugen Sport-Seven?
The buggy was designed around an engine with a threaded crankshaft. The wasp engine has a pilot shaft crank.
This is an example of a threaded crankshaft:

The buggy kit should have come with a clutch nut / pilot shaft like this:
Did the kit come with a flywheel? When installed, does it cover all the threads on the crankshaft? Please provide a photo of the engine with flywheel.
