I made a super Cat for John.
Wanted to show some pictures of the Super Cat Gen-2 I made for John of Coral Springs, FL.
This is the first seamless boat I made and it was a pain but it came out SWEET.
What do you think ? good or bad ? I can take the criticism if any because any input helps whether good or bad.

The Super Cat Gen. 2 is 44 inches on the bottom from the tips to the transom and the top is 49 inches because of the (two wheelie bars. LOL)
The beam is 15 inches. The cat pictured above has already shipped and I did not get a shot of the inside but here is some pictures of the last one I put together.

What did you change on the bottom of the hull?
What did you change on the bottom of the hull?
Due to trade secrets and national security if we tell you the requested secrets we then would have to terminate you.[sm=drowning.gif]LOL
All kidding aside we can safely say that every thing on the bottom has changed. not one thing is the same as the first generation of the Super Cat.

Did you change the mold or make a new mold? Reason I ask is because Paul did the original molds and he builds with epoxy, and I was thinking that it could be the shrinkage that Eddie was getting that made the US boats ride different to the Euro version.
Boats do look great, good job with bringing back and improving a much loved classic!

RE: I made a super Cat for John.
The yellow made me think at first also that it was a gel-coat color as it seems like Eddie had them available in that shade.
Better get some air to the engine and open up those scoops and around the pipe.
I had one of Eddie's hulls that someone gave to me when I bought an engine from him, he didn't feel like pulling the mill out so threw it in. The hull was beat to death so I gave it to Misshydro for the now husband. It had the dual cockpit hatch but I like this one better.
I don't see any transom shots but this hull seems to handle better with the strut mounted inside the transom, not hanging off the back. Maybe with your new bottom that might not have to be done.

So is Miss Hydro now Mrs Hydro? Or did she marry a mono? Or Cat?

RE: I made a super Cat for John.
Yuppers, she done got herself married! Joe and her were still in the dating mode when I gave them the hull. The previous owner let his father drive it and he managed to find a dock and other things with it. Joe wanted to get into gas and wanted a Cat so I gave it to them. They got most of the damage repaired but now they're needing stuff to finish it with. The Sikk that came with it oddly enough is at their home right now also as Joe needed an engine for his Oberto boat so that he could enter it at the Toledo show so I mailed it to him to make the judges happy.
No, she isn't going to change her maiden name, she's going to still be Misshydro.
Bill, I wouldn't be surprised if she wants to get just a cowling from you as the other one was beat as well plus big pieces missing from someone trying out different pipes and such.

I make my boats with Polyester and Vinyl Ester resin. I was told that epoxy will change its shape like if it sits in the sun or inside a hot car or car trunk and gets hot. I was
also told the gas and fuel can harm epoxy. So that is why I went with the polyester and the vinyl ester resins.

RE: I made a super Cat for John.
Eddie used Polyester, Paul in Belgium uses epoxy.
Epoxy needs to be baked to fully cure fast. Once it is cured though it won't distort and is fuel resistant.
Polyester, (even Vinyl ester) will distort in high heat too.

What are you asking for the cowl? just pm me about and I can relay it to her. Who ever try to fix that hull in the first place should've been jackslaped. Pretty horrible repair job, butchered. The hull need to be finetuned in and it would be ready to paint. Cowl need some help on the inside to strenghting it up. Ron was telling US at the toleto show about you making them again.

RE: I made a super Cat for John.
Depends on where you have the shafts exit the hull. Long struts for exiting in the tunnel, short struts for exiting the sponsons.
