Hi, I attended the Wren open day in the UK yesterday where they ran a 100. I was really curious about spool up time and had a go myself. From Idle to maximum revs was good but from about a quater throttle it was very fast. As fast as any turbine I have seen. Ron.

How cool!

So, Ron, what if any of us get attached and want to take one home with us at the open house at the man-shop next weekend?

:-)

NIce....

My Wren SS had super quick throttle response. I expect this one will be the same or better.

Love it!

Gawd there's some really cool turbines coming out these days. So many choices....[sm=drowning.gif]

I suppose external kero start plug easier to self replace than internal type too?

Ron,
Do you have an RPM range please?

Nevermind... I found them on the website.
Thanks!

The first runs on the 100 are as follows:

Temp 82F
29.05 pressure
46.9 Dew point
800 ASL

Corrected altitude 3593 ASL

2% loss per 1000 ft =7.2%
7% of 22 pounds = 1.54 pounds thrust loss

First run produced 20.4 pounds on the stand @ 160,000 rpm

So it's what it is.....

Throttle response is as good if not better than the SS.

We will do the fuel consumption tests on Saturday and I will post results on Monday.

I have 2 of these in stock...both spoken for, but 3 more on the way, plus an additional 10 in the next two weeks..

Thanks for the interest!!

Quote from Wren UK dated October 24th 2007:

The Kero start worked perfectly on the 44 turboprop at JetPower. Most of the development work has been done by Lucien Gerard, our turboprop pilot from Luxemburg. He is here in the UK this week, working with us, and will be demonstrating the kero start at Open Day on Sunday. We are very happy with the hardware system, Lucien has created something which is unique to us and it gives a good, gentle start which is also faster than some of the alternatives. However, there is still some work to do on the software before we can start selling so I don't have a release date. Soon, I hope!

Hello, Ron, is it a machined compressor?
Mike show me it at Jetpower, and I think that it´s a casted one.. or am I wrong? The turbine externaly is exact to the wren 70, ( that Mike told me too that in the near future it´s going to be the wren 75). Good work !

Regards.
Félix

Felix,

I stand corrected. The compressor is machined from a cast wheel. I have clarified this with Mike.
My bad!!
During the development of the 100, the term machined compressor was used often, and I misunderstood.......
I have edited my original post to remove this statement.
Sorry for any confusion.
