RE: new engines!
Hi so the DJ 80 from SDS hobby is the MT 80 in disguise.
I am in the market for a 80-85cc engine.
Has anyone any information on the old MT80 or the now DJ80 on there use as i have never heard os either before and no nothing on them, it seams there is a hole in the market when it comes to large single cylinder engines and as always the Chinese are trying to fill it.
Thanks Dave.

Even worse than the original DA85
There are several good 80cc out there including ZDZ, MVVS, 3W and the new DA85 (after updates)
Personally - and assuming that each time a product is cloned, it's marginally worse, I wouldn't spend $$$ on a clone of the MT80

I have a Toshiba lap top running Ubuntu and Firefox
I think the new adminstrator, ib-dick, uses an Apple with Leopard and Safari.

With the "issues" seen since the recent upgrades etc, I suspect "IB" has taken nothing more than a rock with him on his Safari.

RE: new engines!
Probably few -if any of the tiny gasser fans know- back about 60 odd years ago there were some pretty good performing gasoline engines in .60 cu.inch- The racing versions of McCoy were an example
These had to rev to make power - as will any very small gasser.
You will never see the same power available using alcohol and nitro methane but obviously, max power per pound is not the criteria.

RE: new engines!
I have sold all my 2stroke engines .I began gravitating to electric when I went to florida for the winter.I couoldnt build in our condo and my family hated the smell of the engines stord inside.so I tried some electrics and found flying just as fun.I still have my 4 strokes and wont ever part and continue to use my satios.I did buy my first 30ccdle and love it.I may even get a 50cc and a 20cc over the next year or so.for me just a matter of prefernce.I dont go with big gassers although I tried it with a 3W 60 on a giant stinger.it was ok but going big is big on my wallet too and hard to transport.so the smaller gassers are good and affordable.I fly 3d on my 3dhobby electrics nothing like it.but I have gas for my warbirds.
the great thing about rc today is the diversity and choices you can make.

What some fliers don't factor in, is that electrics can be built much lighter than models which have to absorb the pounding of a engine which apply power in a short burst each revolution.
No matter how well balanced the engine may be - the power pulses are what beat the airframe.
But - noise is a big factor for some- they want it!
Years back - the turbine engine was banned from Indy racing - no noise and potentially far more power .
The fans would have stayed away in droves
The NASCAR stuff runs wide open exhausts - -the fans LOVE it

A1pc i dont think you will ever find a gas engine that is the same weight, same power and same size of one that is run on glow.

When something like the DLE20cc closely matches weight with an equivilant glow, yet costs far less, and has less slime output, and has equal power, then it's game over....the mini gas wins!
Factor in the lower fuel costs of gas vs glow fuels, and no need of glow driver, glow starter, it just keeps getting better!

RE: new engines!
The REAL power setup is one everybody ignores
Take a really well designed glow engine and put a spark ignition on it - run it on a alky/syn oil mix
The spark setup allows for extremely low idle with no flame out on recovery
Top power ?
you can compress it to a very high setting and then adjust mixture and spark to optomize it
On the tuned pipe setups I did this way - power (really constant usable power ) exceeded my glo setups running 20% nitro
fuel tank has to almost a large as a regular higher rnitro setup -which is almost double a gasoline setup.
But you end up with a setup which does not need a starter - or glow plug battery and NO flameouts.
PS -if your idea of a great ignition engine is one of the 199.95 variety - ignore this approach-
