Whenver my wife starts to talk about the tanks I just tell her to smile. Afterall..... it could have been, drugs, booze or gambling. At least the tanks I can enjoy with my two children. Besides they don't have poker-faces.

Although, Bill Gasser, Willy, Doug and I do have a touch of schapps at then end of the weekend when everyone else is gone. You can always tell a German..... you just can't tell him much!

General rule, treat your tanks well and treat your wife better.

Lucky for me my wife is forgiving. Even if she likes to remind me now and again of the things I've done to p@#$ her off! Anyways... got acouple of more pics including lower hull in primer (Ihave used pop rivets instead of bolts now in hopes the tracks won't hit any more), modified Sturmtiger gun opening (Istill have to modify the gun mantlet), narrowed superstructure and first stages of my upper hull. By the way, I won't show any of this to my wife until it is a complete tank. Then she comments on how much of a nerd Iam, but appreciates the work that went into my projects and she is often impressed by the final product of my labours. Like some have mentioned: my wife knows Icould have much worse habits than trying to build a 1/16 scale panzer army... I could try to build a REAL panzer army!!!

Hopefully I will have this thing done soon. I am still having technical issues (gun traverse etc...) but Iwant to bring it to the next CAN-AM meet that Ican make it down for (not sure when I'll be able to come that way again though ). I'm thinking Imay not go with airsoft on this one. Iwill look into getting a DBU and setting it up for IR battles. However Iam still undecided, and having a hopped-up airsoft Jagdpanzer with a barrel lateral traverse would be awesome at target shooting (no turning whole tank for minute aim correction). Ihave taken a couple of more pics, this time with some assembly done. I have made the driver's hatch and it was supposed to open but Ihave attatched it with a pop-rivet and Itightened it too much, so it is now stuck until Idrill the old rivet out and install a new one. Ihave started adding some detail like spare track hooks, grab handles, gun sight, etc... I even tried my hand at making a cast steel effect on the mantlet. Hope you guys like it

Oh yeah, I am trying to set this thing up with enough negative vertical traverse that Ican shoot down a hill or hide behind a berm or hill and pop up to shoot a target in a way the enemy won't be able to return fire.

Looking good Duke,

My favorite IR battle technique is to take the high ground with my Panther and drop the barrel off at 10 or 2 o'clock. The narrow body of the Panther makes this ideal. If I do it just right they can't even see me until I shoot. If they return fire they can't hit my apple due to the severe angle. My enemy can only get hit from atop a hill that is higher or to my flanks. It isn't the most realistic way, but still part of the tank strategy. Thanks for posting. I can't wait to see you camo scheme.

The Commander: Your technique is probably more realistic than you think. Ihave heard of the "hull down" firing technique before. And with a tank like the panther it would be very difficult to hit and if a hit was made the severe angle of the front armor would make penetration next to imposible unless you exposed the lower hull section under the glacis plate (which would be be closer to a vertical angle due to the tank being above any attacker and possibly even tilted back somewhat).
Ihave done some more painting and assembly! I installed the radio operator's hatch (still haven't opened the hull top under the hatches yet, though), added some cammo but Ihave still not secured the upper hull to the lower hull yet. So my test drive pics show very un-commoflaging neon green masking tape . My gear-box alterations proved to work until one final drive gear popped out it's retaining screw . But, except for that, I have a running tank (sans working gun or IR mind you...). Ihave also found that my tracks are still too loose (KT tracks having a traction link AND a connecting link make adjustment a pain... too short or too long...) so Iwill have to find a way of getting more adjustment from my idlers. Ihave also included a pic of my Jagdpanther's new side skirts being built. Enjoy!
