Tazer 15t ESC
I have a Tazer 15t ESC (link provided) and I'm wondering if anybody has experience using an 8-cell battery with it. It's only rated for 7-cells but I recently built some 8-cell packs without knowing that...
I took it for some short passes (2-3 minutes worth) on my sidewalk but haven't had a chance to go all-out with it (we got 10 inches of snow so I was stuck driving on my shoveled sidewalk).
I just found out it's not rated for 8-cells so I'd like to get some opinions before I take it for an actual test run. During my sidewalk runs neither the motor or ESC heated up.
Anybody have experience with my situation?
THANKS!

RE: Tazer 15t ESC
Being a nitro guy, I'm not that familiar with ESCs, but I don't reckon those short passes hurt anything. Electronics tend to get really hot before they let go.
I still wouldn't make any more passes with 8 cells. MAybe you can yank one of those cells or wire it in parallell or something?

RE: Tazer 15t ESC
Thanks for the quick reply! I've already began disassembling one of the four packs I made. I think I'll keep 2 of them 8-cells just incase someone in this forum knows from experience that it will work fine without frying my ESC. haha if I do accidently fry it with an 8-cell it won't really matter since it only cost me $20 (and it's my daughters and she NEVER uses it).

Also, what difference would it make wiring it in parallel vs series? I know almost nothing about wiring batteries and I understand you may not know since you're a nitro guy.
Anybody?

RE: Tazer 15t ESC
the taser escs are real fragile...and one i bought didnt even work right out of the box. but overall, theyre real good for just "playing." i use one in my tt01e with a 15t brushed motor. i always have problems with the on/off switch going bad... but hey, you cant beat the price!

RE: Tazer 15t ESC
Yeah, I've gone through a couple Tazer 15t ESC's in her Stampede and fried one in my old Rustler, though I think every time it has been from water damage...I gotta get her something waterproof! It is sooo true though that the price can't be beat (especially since it's not really worth the investment of a waterproof or brushless setup since she probably won't use it much). Also she's only 7 years old so she doesn't really do much harsh driving with it other than crashing into stuff ; - )
