E-Flite Blade or Align T-Rex?
Alright all you heli PROS, I've got a question... but first, storytime. I run a YouTube channel, and my videos are pretty good, but I'm bored of making them, so I'm moving into CPhelis. I've got a mCX2 and 120 SR, and I'm sick of how stable the 120 SR is, because it pretty much flies itself and its no challenge to fly, so I'm considering either a Blade 450 3Dor the T-Rex 450 Sport. Now you're probably saying, "T-Rex, duh!' but my issue is that a T-Rex costs $500 without a radio, and a Blade costs $470 witha radio (I'm 13 with a $15 a week salary),and I'm wondering if the Blade will be less capable of the maneuvers that a T-Rex is capable of. I've dragged on too long, so if you'd take the time to leave a response, then that would be AWESOME. Thanks.

Here's my 2 cents, I'd stick with the heli that you can get parts immediately (most likely the Blade). Also theBlade will come with a Dx6 radio, which will help for expanding into future projects.

+1 on that ! Go for the Blade 400. It's a decent next step heli & it comes with the Dx6i whick is a decent radio. I'm still flying on it. (limited budget also LOL) & I fly a Blade MSR,Trex 250se, Trex 450 v2, Trex 500 esp & Trex 550e 3g on it. Alright I still haven't maidened the 550e waiting for my flight batteries to come in this week, but you get the idea.
You can hop up the blade as you can afford to, and when your ready to move up again you can look for bind & fly used stuff that will work with your Dx6i

Wow, you've got alot of helis... So, which one is most agile, your Blade 400, the T-Rex 450 V2, or the 250SE?

Look seriously at the Trex Clones.
i had a Blade 400 and it gave me nothing but trouble. cheap servos, cheap plastic head etc..
You can build 3 clones for the price of one Blade 400.
I have one TREX clone that cost me $10 for the kit and it now has over 500 flights and is going strong..
here are my 8 TREX clones, each one flies much better than the Blade 400 ever did..
These 8 helis cost me much less than 3 Blade 400s. and are far superior in my opinion..

RE: E-Flite Blade or Align T-Rex?
I love my 450 clone (Gootch Helios 450SE V2). I also have read many times over how crappy the electronics are on the Blade 400. My advice is the go for a clone such as mine or the KDS clones... my kit cost $86 without electronics; this way you can choose what servos, esc, motor, etc. you want and not be paying for something you don't want. That is the beauty of buying a kit over an RTF or even PNP heli such as the Blade 400. Hope this helps even though the last post on this thread was over 2 months ago.

I have an Assan GA250 on my 450 right now... got it from the dealer I bought my Helios from: clubheli.com based in PA. The other gyro they offered was for a more advanced pilot than myself who does crazy 3D - I don't remember the model #, but it is a Spartan gyro.

i was in that situation too, the exact one. where do i wanna dump the money.
for learning a cp a blade isn't a bad idea, especially not the 450, if comes programmed and stuff for beginner and expert.
you can put almost 500 into it and upgrade as you get more money, or pay 1000ish to get a GREAT trex. you can get a used one, it's what i did. go to a local flying club with heli pilots and ask them if they or anyone they know is selling a trex 450. meet up with them, make sure it flies, then buy it. i went to buy mine, it didn't work, so he fixed it. i'm sure if the seller is a nice person they'll make sure it works perfect. and then ya get a used price wich is a lot cheaper. then just get a radio. a lot less than a new one thatll cost 1000 rtf. clones also aren't a bad idea. SIMULATOR.
i flew fixed pitch, went to CP, with no sim, i crashed before the left skid left the ground. then i got a sim, i was flying great in no time.
now that long story short, invest in the TREX, it'll pay itself off.

RE: E-Flite Blade or Align T-Rex?
I'm betting based on the history of the blade that the blade 450 is gonna need upgrades to make people happy.
I can take a stock blueray and make it do flips and inverted fine. I'm not gonna do more advanced stuff though.
I'm sure the blade 450 can go inverted stock and it's much better than the old 400 though.
I hear the 450 has better documentation.
